I have been parked in there having a break early hours of morning and seen the traffic cops come in and drive around lorry park with spotlight on checking a couple of times in the past…
I only pop in for a 45 and use the bog but wouldn’t wanna be stopping there,it’s grim…
Ok, good on them, I take back what I said about it in that particular case.
I dont know Rob. I parked in Reading a few weeks ago, with a rear door open, as you do. Got woken up at half past [zb] one, by two cops, telling me that the door of the trailer was open, and they wanted to check if something had been stolen… . Resisted the initial urge to tell them to go forth, and instead explained why we open a door at night… they looked really confused. I guess at least they made an effort.
(Yes, I did get them to sign my printout, and started a new 11 hour daily rest.)
I park regularly at a secret little cul de sac in Stoke,.and I regularly get people going home and knocking on my cab to tell me my back doors are open…
I don’t tell them to ‘whatever off’ because they do it with good intentions, but I’ve taken to opening first 3 buckles of curtains and tying them back, and never been disturbed since.

I’ve often read of you telling of tying your curtains back, but I thought that was with tassels or summat?
The buckles open up a whole new dimension to your character.

P.S. I’ve guessed that “pelmet” is Polari, but what is it in English?
(If it can pass the censor)

For the amount of money Welcome Break, Moto etc. charge for parking on motorway services you’d think they could afford to at least employ a couple of security guards to walk around at night. If smaller truck stops can do it why can’t they? Fair play to the Police for having a look around every so often but they can’t be there all the time. Get some security cameras up too.
They have at a few sites for a trail period. Which means once we’ve seen the cost breakdown,it will stop
To be honest to the op, if that was a regular run for me and parking payment etc wasn’t an issue, which he states, then I’d be shortening my day and parking in Lockerbie with full facilities, decent grub and the possibility of a pint and a few hours out of the tin can too.

+1…and if he wants to pay there is also Carlisle truckstop, and the Golden Fleece, both with facilities and bars nearby,…and he has to pass them both to get to that craphole.
