I suppose fair enough have a crack down, but the sign saying weak bridge seems a bit disingenuous. Are we to believe the bridge wasn’t weak before? More like the nimbies have been up in arms and managed to get the limit put in. Often the weight limit signs are used to reduce heavy goods in the area, not because of the particular bridge per se.
To be fair there are loads of signs from all directions from miles away warning of this limit, with ample amount of diversion signs.
So there’s going to be repair work done later this year, so if it’s re.opened for HGVs afterwards, we can say it wasn’t a nimby up their own arse council type policy after all eh?
Won’t hold my breath.
Surprised it’s Virginia , I thought they went all over Europe + possibly farther , you’d think a weight limit in uk wouldn’t present a problem to there drivers
Drivers probably using their trusty Truck Driver road atlas (which doesn’t show this restriction) instead of getting with the technology and using a Truck satnav (which does)…
This restriction and diversions are relentlessly signposted from miles away in all directions. I went to Bath for the first time in a very long time last year, saw the signs, pulled over and found another way in. I have little sympathy for anyone who is caught and fined at this point.
