kleeneze have gone as well.
my misses did kleeneze for a while. didn’t make a fortune but made a bit from it. I personally didn’t think people would buy the useless stuff they sold but people bought it all
EU rules make it harder for small to medium sized firms to cope with all the red tape. Once fully out of the EU, the playing field can be set to level again.
Consider this simple example:
You can pay your staff what you like under EU rules, as they don’t enforce the UK’s minimum wage. (Neither does the UK, come to that!)
The cost of taking on a new member of staff in terms of “Start-up one-off costs” is say, 24,545 Euros.
That means when a new job is created, you want to employ someone who isn’t going to quit in a few weeks. Otherwise, the new bod taken on say, 3 weeks after Newbie walks - would invoke a further overhead of 24,545 Euros.
If you are a medium sized business - this is a lot of money to waste on a simple “Mistake” of employing “The wrong person”. The business of taking on someone new - now carries much greater risk to the company.
If you are a small business - this “EU effect” is DISASTEROUS of course!
If you are a multi-national? - 24,545 Euros is a drop in the bucket. More than that gets wasted on taps left on, lines being re-drawn, H&S memos being sent out, etc etc.
