Beta testers wanted for new driver timer software

alix776:
it will run fine in the 2i with tomtom running you could use an emualor to run the software on you laptop

I have been running it with tomtom running as well, but as pointed out I would loose all info unless I run it off memory card in the event of a crash, as all my memory cards are devoted to holding maps for tom tom I don’t want to add this program to them ( I use more than one SD card for my maps)
so rather than just backing up the program from pda to PC, it would be easier to just run it off my laptop, as this live with me in the cab as well.
Where would I find an emulator for this pda/ laptop? xda11i

Hi Jimti,

Well, I´m trying right now to upload the setup to my server and test the installation procedure for PCs. Will be just a few minutes.

The version for PC is exactly the same as the one for PDA, so you can run it in your laptop, no need for a PDA or a PDA emulator.

What version to run and what machine will be then up to you, the customer, I just provide the tools.

Another version for SP with WM 2005 will be ready soon too, and then a smaller version for SP WM 2003, as they only support CF 1.

Hi all,

Well, a little bit presurized but here is a first beta release of the program for PCs.

Link is http://www.geopostcode.com/TguardPC/Tguard_setup.msi

Once you click you can save it in your computer to run it laterly or straight run it from the server. It will install the program in your computer.

Same as the version for PDAs this program needs a predefined format for Dates and Times. So go to Control Panel → Regional Settings and for Dates use the format dd/MM/yy and for Times HH:mm:ss, otherwise you will get errors.

Laterly I will have a look on this to know if I could do it programatically for customers.

This post has been edited, now the installer will create the shortcuts in Start Menu and Desktop.

All sugestions are welcome, but please, do it emailing me to j.adell@ntlworld.com

Well I’ve downloaded TGuard setup to my laptop, but don’t have .NET installed. On the .NET Framework Version 2.0 there are three versions available for download, The x86, the x64 and IA64 versions. I’m at a loss on which version to download. Then there are the Related Redistributables, one or two of those look like they might be useful too.

My laptop is an old Compaq Evo at 800MHz, running on the full, standard XP Pro sp2.

You just need the X86 version. Other versions are for very special latest processors.

In this page of MS Microsoft Learn: Build skills that open doors in your career you will find all, the one is interesting to you is .NET Framework Version 2.0 Redistributable Package and it will download to your computer the setup file dotnetfx.exe, just install it in your computer and you´re done.

It went fine on Sunday, perfectly.
On Monday the plug rattled loose in my 24v socket, which powers my inverter. My laptop battery is knackered, so when the power went off, 5 minutes later my laptop switched itself off, without going through its power down sequence. I eventually realised and powered it back up, but T_Guard wouldn’t start up. It keeps telling me that the “date string” is wrong. I have kept a copy of the details, so I can post them here or e-mail them to you, whatever you prefer, or just ditch them if you don’t need them.
My date is in standard British order of dd/mm/yy, time is in hh.mm.ss order.

I was chatting to Alix earlier, in the chat room. He said that he thinks you have done a few modifications to the programme. I can try again with the newer update.

One other thing which I noticed. When I start the programme, by clicking on the T_Guard icon on my desktop, the programme “installs”, it doesn’t “load”. I wondered if that was simply a typo, or if it was actually installing. I have a box which appears on the my screen with the words “This programme is installing” and a progress line underneath the words. (Those may not be the exact words by the way, but its words to that effect).

Hi Simon,

I cannot use this forum as my particular one. For betatesting purpouses please send me an email to j.adell@ntlworld.com then I will answer you to your address.

Thanks for your feedback.

hi

i am interested in trying this software but don’t seem to be able to get it to work on my PDA.

it installs fine, but when i go to run it, it just doesn’t open up.

what am i doing wrong■■? any help would be great as this looks really useful.

cheers
guys.

have you installed the runtime as well as the tachogaurd

theres note much happening at the moment as jose is recovering from a heart atack so it will be a while before he is able to return to programing

in my search for a way to keep a track of my driving hours i found a excel speadsheet that can do this for up5 drivers, i have modded it a bit to suit me and it seems to work fine, you too can download it for free from the downloads page on the following website

http://www.fasttrackdrivers.com/

hope it help some of you

An interesting site, but that’s a spread sheet, ie a chart for you to enter your hours onto. This thread is about a computerised timer.

Just tried it on my PDA but only works when I set the date back to March of this year - cracking piece of software.

However, when I set the date back to todays one, it advises me that it was only valid for beta testing for one month.

How do I buy a serial number to activate the software?

Mark

Hi if you read up the thread Jose who wrote and developed this software is recovering from a heart attack I suppose once he is fit and running he will finish this software off ,as I think it was being beta tested at the time. I think we should all wish him well and hope he makes a full recovery soon so we will have to be patient for the final release of tachoguard.
