Hi all I am off to Keswick tomorrow in a 7.5t and I am wondering the best way, either the m6 and up through a591 or up the m6 nad across the a66 . Worried vosa might be on the a66? any advice would be great.
Why are you worried about Vosa? If you don’t run bent and complete your daily checks you’ve got nothing to worry about.
There is a weight limit on 591 somewhere after Ambleside but I cant remember what it is, I think its signed at J36 M6.

Better stop at home then!
Why worry about VOSA? If you make an innocent mistake they wont persecute you; if you’re running bent or the wagon’s falling apart, sorry you deserve everything that’s coming.
Lesson here for newbies: VOSA (the people who enforce many of the rules and regs) will adopt an “educational” approach to new drivers who have made a daft mistake - probably on tachos. You only need be worried about being stopped if you know eg you’re overloaded, insecure load, defective vehicle, deliberately flouting the drivers’ hours. In all these cases, you’re on your own!
Run legal to the best of your knowledge and you’ve very little to worry about. But you cant play the “new driver” card for ever.

Pretty certain the limit on the A591 is 7.5T - I just watched this video and you can pause it at 5:21 and see it:

Then again, that video is three years old.

But if he’s driving a 7.5 tonne and there’s a 7.5 tonne limit, where’s the problem?
Anyway, it’ll be too late now. He’s either got done or stopped in bed!
