Best way to henstridge?

Anyone know best way to henstridge in somerset? Its on a30 between sherbourne and and shaftsbury,only going mon with a flat pulled out to 55 foot and want best way! Any ideas welcome?

No idea, but it sounds like the type of job that has got “faeces” written all over it from the word Go :wink:

Depends which direction you’re coming from!! :laughing:

newton steel stock by any chance?

newton steel or ASD? assuming you are coming from the north or midlands then off the M5 at taunton {A358] onto the 303 then turn right at cartgate roundabout for yeovil, drop into yeovil and onto the A30 , follow that all the way until you come to the traffic lights at henstridge, go straight through do not turn right, keep going until you come to the right turn for the industrial estate,theres a white house on your right handside at the corner where you turn off the A30, turn right follow that for about 3/4 mile until you come to the sign to turn left onto the airfield and newton steel is on there, good lads you will be in and out in no time, if its ASD then still turn right off the A30 at the same turn as before but carry on past the newton steel sign until you come to T junction, turn left and follow that for a couple of miles,gets a bit windy and twisty but not too bad, when you come out of the country and into henstridge ASD is on your right handside, you can carry on the A303 and come off at morrisons at the wincanton turn [A357} and follow that but its a bit tight with a 55ft ,the roads ok but there some single sections with big built up kerbs that dont do your tyres any favours so if its your first time go yeovil, hth

Thanks for that chaversdad,not sure if its newton steel or not,id looked at going wincanton and A357 but could remember it bein a bit windy ill def go yeovil and a30 now,and thanks again for the directions,got dursley first so should b a good day!

the A30 is a nightmare of a road round henstridge, watch out for car transporters, sensible transport are based on the ind est at henstridge, i used to work for them, road gets a bit tight when two trucks meet each other, and more or less its always on a bend :smiley:

DO NOT GO WINCANTON- HENSTRIDGE, low bridge, minor A road, :smiley:

Cheers starting to wonder if id b betta with cenral london!!!

Or on google street view showing bridge height… HERE :slight_smile:

its not that low, prestons go that way with topline scanias, ive been under with a man xxl and a merc megaspace so with a flat you can get most trucks under it, the road will take a 55ft trailer if you have been down it before, its just the way the bends are if you dont know where abouts in the road you need to be to get round them you wont get a second chance :wink:

no probs, ASD are AM delivery and newton will tip you until 1pm so you should be ok {btw both tip you with a side loader if you have beams on}
