Best way to Chester-Le-Street?

Got to go up to the North East in a weeks time for work.
Taking a van up so should be easy, but whats the best route up?
Final destination is Chester-Le-Street but not sure where yet.

Any advice, suggestions & places to stop would be good.
Oh and the journey will start from Heathrow early morning.

I live in co. durham and drive up and down all the time.

The quickest route is m25, m1, m18 and a1.
but the roadworks on the m1 before the m18, it maybe better using the m25 and a1.

Chester le street is just off junction 63 of the a1

I would use the A1 all the way.

The roadworks on the m1 are not that bad really, depending on what time of day you hit them.

From Heathrow, I would go the same way as vtsadam.

I have got stuck in them heading south on a monday morning, but heading north of thursday, yeah it slows you down abit but it moves constantly
