Best way to avoid m1 from m6 to m25?

being stuck on m1 on my way back from around Birmingham to Hatfield i am now thinking whether it makes sense to avoid it completely.

i tried a5 on previous occasions and it was only a little bit better. So would it e right to go just straight to a14 and then a1? Another alternative that i see is a428 → a421 - > a1

any thoughts?

There is always the M40. But if you’re paid by the hour does it matter?

It’s always busy southbound from around 07.00-10.00ish if you can avoid it between those times you should be ok.
A14 across to the A1 is a possibility but the A1 gets stuffed from Stevenage as well.
Best way to plan it is to allow Plenty of Time in the mornings & of course at least twice a week, allow for the inevitable Fatal Accident that closes it both ways for most of the day [emoji57]

cheers,

is m25 generally moving ok clock wise from m40 to a1 in between 7-10 am workdays?

Depending on the time of day, M40 M25 A1 or round the North Orbital depending where in Hatfield you are.

If the idiots have managed to smash into each other, and this happens on every motorway despite everyone going in the same direction and usually with no more than 40 mph speed difference :unamused: , the it’s time to duck and dive about round the inevitable mayhem whichever route you’re on.

Not to worry another 20 years there’ll be a further 10 million people landed here at least, that we know about, all roads should be just about grinding to a halt by then…i’ll either be retired or kicked the bucket so its all yours… :smiling_imp:

M25 clockwise between M40 and A1 is usually a hell of a lot better in the mornings than the other side which is normally knackered.
