Best way into Mells near Frome

Hi all
I’m parked overnight on m5 jct 8 and heading to a place called Mells near Frome in morning

What route would you advise
I’m running max weight

Cheers in advance

Down the M5 to the M4.Exit Junction 18 for Bath.Take the A46.Then the A367 to Radstock to Mells.
Weight limit at Norton St Philip and anti truck Nimbies.
Or go via Frome.Trucks are allowed to get to Radstock via the A362.

I’m guessing come off at Bath turn off M4 head into Bath then head towards Peasdown ,St,John where you might run over my ex wife(she lives there) then hang a left through Radstock on the A362. I believe but could be wrong if you try going through Frome you’ll hit a weight limit.

If you’re going to go through Bath, might as well stay on the A36 and off on the A361. Go around Frome on the bypass and straight over Nunney Catch roundabout (Keyfuels, cafe, etc). You’ll go down a dip and turn right near the top (signposted for Halecome Quarry). Follow that road past Whatley quarry and Mells is at the end of the road.

No weight limits to worry about. No low bridges. No hassle!

Nice one mike

+1

Watch on the bypass as one of the roundabouts (I think next one after ind est and hotel) it’s not that clear what the primary route is and it’s rightish turn not straight on.

Frome town centre has a 7.5 ton weight limit.
But any size truck can still get to Radstock by going on the Frome bypass.
The sign says trucks can use Frome to get to Radstock.
Another option is the M32 to Bristol then the A37 to Chilcompton to Mells.

He’s probably in and out by now Nick and I did assume an artic as it’s the safer option.

yeah I and know most would but a bummer if it was only a little motor and told to go around the house’s :grimacing:

Cheers lads

It was actually an artic tanker delivering bitumen to quarry

Bit of a fiddle to get to, plenty weight , width and height limits to negotiate .

lol yeah for some reason they don’t think about the size of trucks that go to these places . even more fun when your pulling a quarry dumper
