As it says on the tin, are there any umbrella companies that you would reccommend. Who should be avoided like the plague?
Please don’t say “you can do it cheaper yourself by going Ltd Co” I know that, I have set up a Ltd co but cannot get a bank account for the company cos of my credit score, so it is going to have to be an umbrella. (unless anyone has any idea’s)
PML accouting will set up a ltd company on your behalf and then handle all the admin for a charge. Google em for no`s etc

Semtex, You tried the Cooperative? Only ask as I also don’t have the best credit history in the world and managed to get an account with them!
Yep, tried them and no go.
Try the Natwest or RBS. They have a basic type business account called foundation (i think), without any credit checks. You do have to ask them about it.

I’ve had a quick look, and it seems either you need a knockback on a getting a normal business account application to get a Natwest / RBS Foundation account and/or it’s run by the Direct Business Unit, so you phone them up rather than deal with the branch.
Previous experience of basic accounts highlights two things. The banks don’t like to talk about them or pretend they don’t exist.
Either go to the bank you bank with presently or try your luck with Barclays.

Why not book an appointment with your bank manager to see if they’ll allow you to use your personal account? My parents did this with their business for the same reason as you and because they were only going to be paying in once a week and not doing anything else their bank OK’d it.
I’m glad to be rid of Umbrella Scams; Had my last wage through from agency and stil not got all my expenses through. Why do they carry over a bit every week? I never wanted to be on Umbrella but Driver Hire offer no alternative so took it so I could earn some money. Got out as soon as a permanent job offer came my way and hope I never do the umbrella scam ever again.

Be warned they take 5% of your money as their margin, that said I have been paid weekly with out any problems and they look after your accounts dependent on what scam sorry scheme you sign up to.

In that case, DH Umbrella print lies in their leaflet; Clearly says they don’t take any off your wages and that it comes off the hire fee.

Good idea, but they still won’t be able to get me a bank account (with my credit rating)

Unbelievable. Complains about being skint but won’t do this, won’t do that… When times are hard like they are now you do what you need to do to put food on the table.
A friend of mine is like that. On the bones of his arse and can’t put electric in the meter. A company wanted to give him a bit of work redesigning a website and another friend of mine with a computer repair shop is up to his eyeballs in work, keeps phoning this guy and this guy isn’t interested because he only wants to work set hours for a salary. Friend with shop is offering him £10/hr so its not pennies. So there he sits bricking it every time the postman arrives or the leccy meter gets low and there are people out there wanting to give him money.
