Best truckfest?

H4L:
Its one thing to work and drive these things, its a step too far when you use things like this as a [zb] mag to get your kicks on your day off.

I remember when I had just started in this job I was as keen as ■■■■ on trucks and all things trucking. The only show I have ever been to (apart from vintage ones which I enjoy) was one at Penrith Truckstop about 1980. After a couple of years in the job my interest waned and has done since to the point today where if I never saw another ■■■■ truck it would not bother me.
So I also can not see the attraction when you are among them every day, and I would never pay to see them on my day off I can not think of anything ■■■■ worse.
Everyone is different of course, and let them crack on, but the attraction goes right over my head.
So not ■■■■ taking here, for a change (well apart from the tank polishers that is  ) just giving my point of view on this.
So in that context and again not criticising or taking the p, can some of you guys explain the attraction, as I am curious as hell. and try and sell it to me…good luck with that btw.

It’s very simple mate, some people have OCD and others have things like ADHD…
Which camp do you have a foot in?

For me it’s like this. It’s a weekend away with a few mates, meet up with a few more mates I don’t often see, have a nose around all the stands for the best deals. Even if you don’t like minting your truck, it’s worth stocking up on polish for the car. Much cheaper than anywhere else. Volvo sell boxes of disposable gloves for a pound each. I stock up on those as they have loads of uses. And if you ever look at a truck across 6 lanes and think it’s nice, then a trip to Peterborough is likely to be the only chance to look around it and admire the workmanship. Admittedly I don’t go checking out mason bros or knights of old trucks, I can see them in the Orwell. But I haven’t seen the snt longline up close yet. If you see a Coles motor and it doesn’t even register, then truckfest is not for you, but plenty like it, seeing as it gets bigger year on year

Or you could be related to Victor Meldrew, but i don’t believe it!

Sorry Ovlov im not intentionally being a ■■■■ but i cant think of any other way to ask it…

Weekend away and meet ip with mates you havent seen, surely you could think of at least ten things off the top of your head to do with that precious weekend.

Its like a pricer in Asda going to PriceGunFest.

Or an ASDA ACE going to Window Lickerfest.

Only if they want to see other asda bods from other parts of the country they haven’t seen for a while. Way I see it, it’s £45 for 3 days 2 nights. I could probably do load with that precious weekend, but there again, I’ve got 51 more to do all that

plus the fact I reckon its all fixed like dog shows and the likes, although I have no proof :unamused:

yer not wrong there well not far out anyway.the last one I went to ( a few yrs ago now) there were drivers saying almost spot on who was picking up what award.

Thing is some places take the trucks off the road for a week or weeks beforehand to prep the trucks from wheels kept in store just for the shows to stripping out the cab to deep clean it completely .

Small independent shows seem to be better .

if i take mine to any, they finish work friday morning just like most weeks, then they get washed and polished and taken job done, sod this taking it of the road to win ■■■ all

I’m neither, 9 out of the 10 voices in my head all agree that I’m perfectly sane.

Thanks for that valuable contribution.

Did you have to look it up first? Or is your knowledge of the subject down to first hand experience.

What would be even sadder is if in their spare time they went on a pricers forum, say pricenetuk.com when they had no interest in price guns
