Best truck related film

i was reading another post where the film “hell drivers” was mentioned. got me thinking… whats the best truck related film you`ve seen? i like “the wages of fear”, old black n white from late forties/early fifties i think, bloke has to transport a load of nitro glycerine over the desert. theres also one with two brothers in, running bent and falling asleep at the wheel from around the same era, but i cant remember the title. any more? rgds jon

BLACKDOG is a good movie with a decent sound track as well.

jonboy i think the one with 2 brothers in starred humphrey bogart and george raft and was called THEY DRIVE BY NIGHT 1940

Convoy.10/4 good buddy.Actually sent me on my way to the profession I’m in today

Particularly liked the scene at the end where the tanker was fired upon big style by just about everything, but it took one guy with a six shooter to blow it up.Bizzare.

And did cops really take bribes?

And do women really drive XKE’s with no pants on? :open_mouth:

Would love to know if it was filmed in Albuquerque,or elsewhere in the USA.

Ken.

One more suggestion: a 1953 black-and-white movie called “Le Salaire De La Peur” (or “Wages Of Fear” in english), a french-italian film, starring Yves Montand.

It plays somewhere in South America, I think. A few disillusioned guys, who have nothing to loose, take the job of bringing 2 loads of highly explosive nitroglycerine to a burning oil-field. Simple story, great movie, a classic. Anybody seen it?

“They Drive By Night” was a good film, but there wasn’t a whole lot of driving in it. Still, those guys who drove through the Sierra Nevada range, 72,000 lbs being pulled by a 170 hp Buda engine, no A/C, twin-stick crashbox ■■■■■■, thermos of hot coffee, and always wearing your fedora-those guys are a breed that are long gone. Some retired, some got killed in wrecks. The Ida Lupinos that used to work the diners along the old mother road have all grown old and retired as well.

BTW, a similar question was asked on the US board, and most drivers said they thought that “Duel” was the best trucking movie ever. Scary, huh??

How about Joy Ride?

so how did you do it Rusty Nail?

Personally I remember seeing Hell drivers when I was young & it is my favorite although there was a film that I cant remember the name of, it was like duel but newer and better.

Anyone ever heard or seen the film ‘Theo against the rest of the world’?
Weird French film about a guy who loses his Volvo N12 and ends up chasing halfway across Europe trying to get it back! I taped it one night when it was on about 3am. It was in french with subtitles and was Ok to see the once but not the sort of thing I’d want to see over and over again!
Convoy got me into the CB craze back in the 80s but the best film I’ve seen so far is Hell Drivers.Tough, gritty and realistic and still relevant todays J I T schedules.

did anyone see space truckers?
biggest load of [ZB] ever made
hell drivers and convoy for me (with black dog and over the top and duel in close persuit)  :grimacing:

Mya faves are
1 Hell Drivers
2 The wages of fear (french one)
3 Smokey & The bandit
4 Convoy

Road Games. About a Truck Driver who ends up chasing a serial killer across Australia.

I remember a good one that was on tele in the early 80’s.

It was a Spanish film about a guy with an F12 pulling a fridge who has his girlfriend with him. He’s travelling through France when a load of angry French farmers (nothing new there then) stop him and open the back of his trailer and then set the whole lot on fire, with his girlfriend still in the cab.
I think he then set out for revenge (wherever that is,probably near Milton Keynes) and I can’t remember how the film ended.
It was good stuff though, obviously subtitled. If anyone knows or remembers the title then let me know.

What about Duel? Dennis Weaver as the car driver being pursued by a maniac whose face we never get to see was tense although maybe not showing “professional drivers” in the best light. I also liked the others mentioned about the load of nitro getting moved over some rough country and Helldrivers with stanley Baker,Pat McGoohan and big Sean

roadkill was one i have seen recently and what a film it was too, you ever hear anyone on a cb asking for candy cain swich ya rig off!!! :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

Well we laid a strip for the Jersey Shore,
prepared to cross the line.
I could see the bridge was lined with Bears
but I didn’t have a doggone dime.
I says Pigpen this here’s Rubbber Duck,
we just ain’t a gonna pay no toll.
So we crashed the gate, doing 98,
I said let them truckers roll, 10-4

Yeehoo, can`t beat Convoy!

Do you know, where that girl rolled the truck in the film wasn`t actually planned? It was an accident but as no-one got hurt, they decided to leave it in.

Maximum Overdrive - based on the Stephen King short story.

Not only trucks but plant as well and a fantastic soundtrack by AC/DC.
