I used to know nearly all the routes south to Spain from the French ports but they’ve gone and built new roads from what I hear!
Who can give me a decent route from Le Harve to Irun, not all Peage but not all Nationals please. Its the northern bit I’m a little worried about & where I hear they’ve been building!
I used to get to Tours via Evereaux, Dreux & Chartres, jump on the A10 for a bit to Poitiers, then down the N10 to the Cabbage Patch, round Bordeaux & south through Forest.
From Irun I’m going to Madrid via Vitoria & Burgos, then down through Bailen and Granada, looping around to Malaga and then down the coast to Mijas
Le Havre, over Pont Tancareville, then take A28 south to J19 and follow signs for E5 Bordeaux on N230 . Continue Begles, Villenave DOrnor, Pessac, Labouheyre, Castets to the border
Is this your first time back to France since your bad experiences of a few years ago John? I notice you haven’t routed yourself through Perpignan though.
Give us a call if you’ve time around Angouleme for a meal mate. I’m only an hour or so away and would cut across to meet you.

Yep, this is my first time back (apart from Court appearances of course lol)
I’m heading down to my Cousins in Mijas with a drop in Granada on the way. I also have to go to Barcelona, either coming or going, not sure which yet!
Let me know your exact whereabouts and some contact details and I’ll be in touch mate! If we can, we’ll meet up for a chin wag if nothing else!

Did that very route at the end of August. Went A16, A28, D6015, N154 then N10 through Chateaudun and Vendome to Tours. They’be been building on the N10 but the routes are fine. Flat out all the way even where the roadworks were. No holdups apart from a couple of sets of traffic light controlled roadworks where they were changing from single to dual carriageway with queues still in single figures in the middle of the day but looking at how far on it was when I went through, I’d say they’ve opened the D/C sections now.
Peages was only 6.85 Euros for the car as there’s only the stretch from Boulogne to where you drop onto the A28 thats toll road.

The Total garages at Dreux close a lot earlier now and a couple of the small towns are by-passed so no more stopping for a McDonnalds at Chataudun (save wrecking your suspension ) but you’ll be OK all the way (via N10 Angouleme) to the cabage patch. (still shut?)

No loss that (Cabbage Patch) a little bit further on, over the Pont Aquitaine, 1st exit past the Centre Routier, right at the end to The Albatross on the right just before the bridge. Excellent, real grub.
