Best route to Chepstow

I’ll be coming down the M5.

Looking at either M50, A40, A466 or take the A48 from Gloucester.

Would obviously rather use the Severn crossing, but it charges £19.80 westbound.

Not using the Severn crossing you only have the other 2 alternatives, M50 would I would imagine be quicker than going via A48

Hmm, after a little research the A48 has 4.3m bridges which are a little too close for comfort, and the I’ve read that the A466 has a 13" Elm Tree height restriction :laughing: Seriously, is this true?

Not using the Severn crossing you only have the other 2 alternatives, M50 would I would imagine be quicker than going via A48

M50, A40, A449, M4 looks like the only alternative. Comes in 30 minutes longer than using the Severn crossing, but could probably shave that down a bit.
