Best route to Burgess Hill

I have to be Burgess Hill tomorrow for 10am. I’m planning to leave Immingham at 4am but I was wondering if the M11 is the best route or should I just stick to A1 and head round the M25?

glutton for punishment  either way you’re stuffed :grimacing:

I’d keep the TA button live on the radio and listen out for any reports before you commit yourself to any of the three obvious routes.

You might just beat the Fenstanton to Cambridge section daily jam on the A14, if you can then M11 route would be my first choice.

A1 is dug up at Black Cat, but assuming the kids are still on half term then it might be ok, otherwise my mates tell me its bedlam at the moment at peak times.

That time of day you’re gonna run into problems on the A14 between Huntingdon and the M11, but I’d still rather go that way than the nightmare that is Black Cat followed by the equally bad nightmare from Stevenage down to the 25.

I did a run to Milton Keynes from Ipswich last week, left a layby on the A14 around Burny St Edmond’s at 06:30am. By the time I hit Blackcat the traffic wasn’t too bad but this was during half term. Its been ages since I’ve been down south, and when I did I used to the M11 off the A1 to get to Dartford and Sittingbourne. I was told by one of the other drivers to avoid the M11, its apparently a carpark.

Once you get past Cambridge it’ll be ok for a while, possible bit of queue on the hill where the A11 joins, and again where men of Harlow without a second to live join at 95 miles an hour down the slip road…i slip the cruise on at me usual 51mph, then chill out and let the silly buggers jam 'emselves bulging eyed 6ft from the arse of the vehicle in front.

All bets are off if there’s a prang on any of the routes, but i prefer the M11 from oop north because you’ve already dispensed with the Potters Bar/Enfield sections of the road to hell when you join it.

Maybe leave an hour earlier M1,A43,M40,M25,M23. :bulb:
