Hi, got a new night job in Leamington Spa and the contract starts Monday 21st. Nice easy and mostly local stuff however there are 2 trips per week to Nissan Sunderland, about 220 miles there and then back, probably 9 to 10 hours drive I reckon. I havent been up that way for years and im after advice on any decent truckstops, or what the best services would be to stop at on that route, about half to 3/4 the way up. Planning on taking a break on the way up and on the way back, and going M1 north A1M onto the A19 straight up to the Nissan plant. I know services are all fairly similar but there are the odd ones dotted around that are better than others etc, any advice welcome, cheers.
I would say Exelby North on the A19 or the one just above the A689 near Hartlepool. (Ron Perry.)
Forget Wetherby if you like sleep, and don’t want noise as wherever you park is en route to the pumps, but the services building is nice enough.
Ken.

Nowhere near a 9hr drive. I used to do Howden to Bromley and back in 8hrs on nights. You’d be surprised how far you can go on a night compared to daytime. Go M1, M18, A1 route, not M1 up to Leeds then onto the A1. Saves you about 10-15 minutes and a lot of climbing hills.
I wouldn’t bother with a break -just get up there, do the tip, take your 45 then run back.
there is no garages open north bound durin the nite on the a19 apart from the 1 on the hartlepool turn off. has a 24hr mcdonalds and the garage is pretty big too and pretty reasonable on prices for food. you’d need to take the a689 exit and go right at the round a bout if your goin north
It all depends on how long you want to drive before a break and what you want from the services. I do someting similar but in the opposite direction, my preference is to take my time going down, having a couple of stops in a 3.5 hr journey, and just stopping once to pick up a coffee and full speed on the way home. As yer man above says nothing open on A19 NB but all open SB, you will see them on the way up. Weatherby is expensive, £3.25 a coffee, £4.84 a sandwich, and don’t be surprised if you get blocked in. The place off the A689 is ok. If you wish to try the A1M then there’s the place off the A167, up the slip and turn right, the A689, up the slip and turn left, or normal services at bowburn and Washington.
Oops, that’s A167 up the slip turn left and A689 up the slip and turn right. Must put that blue and pink string back on the wrists.
