Best of luck with this one?

and they wonder why they get monkeys to drive their trucks ? that pay and night out allowance is an insult, but I know for a fact that somebody will do it.

I went down and met the owner of the firm, he was a nice guy tbh.

The guy advertising it is the TM for them and he used to work for Maritime out of Liverpool and again is a nice guy.

I turned it down partly because of the money and partly because of the owner telling me that they insist on parking for free unless loaded with valuable cargo - I am valuable cargo.
The money was for mon - fri / sat too, so 24 grand salaried for all hours which may include a saturday and only 17 per night.

But, just because I’m a greedy SOB, doesn’t mean it won’t suit someone, hence it’s being advertised.

Well what you need to do is get some trucks, get some work, and offer drivers the rate you feel is enough.

Unless someone starts a trend pulling the conditions back up they’ll never get any better.

Not a problem, just come home on a credit card, then default on it and let someone else pay the bill.

I take it fuel and productivity bonus didnt add up to much then?

Wasn’t mentioned at the interview tbh

same as yours mate buy a truck pay ■■■■ pot wages and make my profit out of the drivers money…

to be honest I don’t blame these ■■■■ pot companies for paying these wages because as seen on this post there,s always a mug to fill the seat …

24k per anum plus bonuses is a shed load of money if you haven’t a job!!!
And truth be told up here in Scotland its a not bad wage !
no its not a great wage but if your not working its a job.

and £30,000 which if you believe the ops on this forum is below average is an even better wage if you have no job … whats wrong with people ?

Is the bloke who would do that. I get that now apart from the night out money driving a class 2

The bonuses may be good.

Having been out of work for almost 2 years, I would have probably jumped at this whilst still looking for something else/getting 2 years experience if I was in the north-west.

Granted the parking thing isn’t good but it beats the hell out of sitting in an office for minimum wage.

Well a salary of 24.5k per annum works out at around £471.15 gross per week,( £374.57 PW take home) +5 nights @ £17.00 per night = £85.00 =£459 + fuel bonus take home pay pw
They could in theory require you to work the max over six shifts, so if you did the full 84 hrs it would work out @ £5.60 per hr (3x15= 45 3x13 =39) which would mean that they could be breaking the law Anything over 74hrs per week@ 74hrs =£6.37hr) would mean that you would be getting paid less than the national minium wage

IMO the n/o allowence of £17 is too low and the gross pay per annum needs to be increased to at least 26-27k forget the fuel or other incentive type bonuses that a driver may or not get paid

If the n/o allowence paid each week isn’t on the wage slip you could claim WTC and if this wage is your only income for a single person you would get a whopping £91 or so per month , which may or may not pay your monthly council tax instalment

Idon’t know about any one else on this forum but the whole point of going to work is not just so i can pay the bills, it’s so i can afford some of lifes luxurys as well as be able to save a little for a rainy day or month , IMO the nat min wage needs to be increased to at least £7.50 or should be after tax &insurance not before, cheap labour should be outlawed

I am no economist and freely admit that many many folk here are more financially savvy than me, but it seems to me that the nat min wage idea has backfired somewhat! It seems to me that a lot of companies who may have been paying more a few years ago are now dropping pay DOWN to NMW which surely defeats the object?

Thoughts?

I think you maybe onto something, at the very least they use it as a bench mark.
