Just read on the Globetrucker site that they are hoping to go to China later this year but nothing is confirmed as yet. They’ve been to Mongolia twice and as far as Vladivostock in Russia so anything is possible !

Certain items yes these days probably even more than they used to.

I was led to believe that there wasnt a suitable route into China, the only way in was through mountainous country, and goods were transhipped onto donkeys.
It wasnt so long ago that foreigners were totally banned from visiting China
