Benton Bros

They were doing some work for us out of Immingham, but don’t know if they still are now we’ve pulled out of there. An awful lot of the Immingham subbies are, mind, so it’s not beyond the realms of possibility…

one of my lady truck club members (retired) is married to a Benton driver and she goes out in truck with him a lot, just hope the firm is insured for that in case of any kind of incident. I know a lot of company’s will not allow the families to go on trips. I suppose it keeps the little lady happy being with hubby 24/7

Danneke, theres a number of wives go on their travels in the cab, which one are you referring to?

What a patronising post.
Back in the days before Elfin Safety was king the taking of family was one of the ocassional perks. Now I don’t see too many of them. Perks that is.

I’malso amazed that drivers are buying ‘shiny bits’ for their trucks.

fox

I know ill get a blast for this, but anybody being paid £6.50 who buys any BITS for the truck they drive, ought to be sectioned. :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

The only exception is buying some mechanical bit to get you back home after a minor breakdown, fuses, a suzie perhaps.

But to buy things to make it look nice, my arse.

Owner drivers are off course a different kettle of fish.

I’d go one step further and suggest culling, at least then they won’t breed a new generation of numpties.

This should only apply to shiny bits with stuff that makes your life more comfortable such as kettles, cookers etc exempt.

Does it have to be your own wife  :exclamation:

The driver polishing his wheels, was it a guy about 6ft 8ins with a Scania, probably the best looking motor on the fleet

Didn’t seem to be that tall,from what I remember,but I do remember that he had a re-cycled u-boat,not a Scarnia.

And as for buying your own bits…

Ken.

:imp: In reply to Danneke’s remarks. Firstly I am no longer a member of your club (LTC) and I take offence at the stupid remarks made about me being a liitle lady. I may be 5’2", but you and I know, I am cuddly, bubbly and full of fun and my husband loves me going on trips with him. His bosses have no problem with wives/partners accompanying drivers on trips. My husband has been at Bentons for nearly 11 months and is very happy with the job. :sunglasses:

Come on, someones gotta say it !!!

I wouldn’t work nowadays for £6-50 but I do think the livery is very tasteful, looks nice without being flash.

What a help that site is ! Its a search portal full of pop ups !!!

to scania lady, I dont think I mentioned anyones name in my post, you obviously have a problem with things, I think one can have both opinions and comments on here regarding posts, without either getting hot under the collar or jumping to conclusions that are not there. I do know that some firms will not allow members of their staff to take passengers in the cabs, something to do with insurance etc. Of course owner drivers have a free hand to do what they want.

Mike-C the helpline is to be found on www.drivershelpline.co.uk not as is printed on trucknet, and for your information it has helped quiet a lot of drivers & their families over the past 16years . Lets hope you never need the help which is freely given.

Wonder how many wifes of Benton Drivers are or were in the Lady Truckers Club.
