So what are you saying exactly, that pensioners have it easy. I agree that the wealthy should not be paid from the public ■■■■■, regardless that they have paid into it, for they surely too have paid in to a private pension, and get well and truly paid a very nice, thank you very much from their ex bosses, and not to mention the £millions paid in bonuses.
Now take the average pension of £104 a week, and tell me you can live quite comfortably on that, yes thats £416 per month, Council Tax £105 and thats for starters, without Heating, eating, then ask yourself if you could live on that. Myself, i have to pay the following monthly £65 new boiler, mobile phone £21, tv internet etc £120, credit, debit cards £250, a loan to enable me to move where i am £170 ( my wife has one of £ 25 grand ) so all in all my outgoings are just over £700, so for me its not too bad, as i do have a private pension, did pay SERPS so get extra pension, and can afford some luxuries, like running my car ( insurance is £200 F/C ) i dont have to pay Road tax, but i do have to pay servicing etc, and any repairs, i also pay for House insurances £300 a year, and money to maintain my licences, and my wife helps me when i need it. So after that little lot, can you wonder why so many pensioners are still working, to give them a standard of living that they had before retirement. We like to go out sometimes, we like restaurants, we like new clothes, we like a beer, and certainly like to eat healthily, and good quality food, and we are after all, a lot better off than others, but mainly because my wife works, and earns very good money, far more than truck drivers could dream of, but for me, it takes away some of the dignity and control, when your income suddenly drops, and believe me, it is a shock, as some of you will find out real soon, so please check your figures, before telling the boss to stick the job up his backside, your finished.
Now lets look at the real welfare bill, how much is being paid in Pensions, Child benefit, welfare benefit, housing, rents, not forgetting the extra costs to schooling, Hospitals, medicines, and maybe a lot more, paid to people who have n o right to be here, and also those who have not paid a penny in. Now bear in mind that the government has cut back in all of these departments, and you can see how they are struggling daily with the extra workload, from the extra immigrants arriving daily, plus the child benefit for kids that are not here, and those who have already gone home, and whose parents are still claiming ( for no one checks for 16 years, after the benefit has begun ) and all of this is coming out of the pot we pay into ( oh yes, a retiree, is taxed on anything above his pension, and then the pension is added for good measure, and a bill duly sent at the end of the tax year, for any work carried out, and even though you will not pay N.I. you will pay tax. ) and i havent even mentioned Overseas aid yet, especially to countries that are seemingly more richer than we are, and some even having space programs, i wont say more.
The Government etc, never mention all the people who die just before they are eligible to claim the state pension, and there are a lot that don’t reach 65. They become ill after working and paying in all their lives and don’t live to see it. Their spouses don’t get any of it either. Where does that money go

the real ripoff merchants are big companies, and they are getting away with it.
“a regulatory loophole the Government knows about but has decided not to close.”
Are you sure the real culprits are big business? Governments on both sides have been providing loopholes for decades.

A driver at Sainsbury’s Sherburn died whilst at work recently - he was two months short of retirement.

If employers paid a proper wage then I wonder how much means tested benefit money would be saved … especially in tax credits, housing benefit and council tax benefit ■■
Proper wage paid = more tax and NI paid to govt and less paid out by Govt

My Grandfather is the same, saved all his life, invested wisely, has a decent pit pension and a good income from his 1000’s of shares and savings yet moaned like buggery when my Gran died about how his income had dropped (that was about a year after she had died not straight away) I bet he still has about £3000 a month coming in. He gets free coal from the pit, yet I bet 100% he still gets the winter fuel allowance.
Are you saying that a bloke that has worked all his life, saved his money, invested wisely, paid into the system, should not be entitled to benefits due to him so that someone who hasn’t done any of the above can claim?
Stan
What is a waste of money is benefits going abroad, winter fuel allowance to millionaires, and foreign aid.
This program makes me mad, the bloke tonight selling fake big issues needs working over with a baseball bat
Burn the lot down with them in it

Your right Stan, both big business and all governments for not closing the loopholes.
All should be entitled to the state pension regardless of how well off they are, but the other stuff like cold weather payments and winter fuel allowance and travel passes should be means tested and only available to those who reside within the uk ,
I would put money on the Conservatives targeting the pensioners next should they win the next election you just know that jumped up little Hitler IDS will persecute the pensioners next, just as he has been persecuting the sick & disabled ,& the unemployed , that’s assuming rioting on a national scale doesn’t occur before then,

Why should he get money off the state, when he quite simply doesn’t need it? After all, when he passes away the money will go to whoever is mentioned in his will. So those people named on his will (which I am one of) wouldn’t have been entitled to the benefits he received, yet that extra money he gets from state benefits, will be saved and go into the money he will leave behind.
State benefits should be for those who need it! If a state pension is all you receive as an income it should be higher, the current system doesn’t provide enough for people who didn’t or couldn’t put away for their retirement.
For those who have 10’s of £1000 why should they get additional financial support?

So the guy who can’t be bothered to work or squanders every penny he earns, in your eyes, should be able to hold his hand out for every benefit there is whilst the bloke who has worked and paid into the system gets sod all?
You see this through different eyes to me.

I could solve the problem of that street and many around the UK drop a bomb on it
People that have worked most of their life then become unable to work due to accident or illness is completly different and they should be entitled to something as they have paid into the system, but often they hardly get anything. As for the scumbag parasites that inhibit right across the UK you know the type normally seen on the Jeremy Kyle show I cant stick them and as for not being able to help it ■■■■■■■■ if they wanted a job they could get one even if it’s picking daffodils or something, but no they would rather sit on their fat ■■■ smoking and watching tv all day. People dislike the Polish etc but I’d rather have them than scumbags,9/10 are bloody hard workers and will do the jobs that the English scumbags are too bone idle to do. Personally id make them work picking up litter etc to earn their benefits then atleast they would be a bit of use and instead of giving them money give them vouchers then they would only be able to spend it on food etc and not on tv’s and ■■■■.
The best line in that programme.

Did anyone else notice that when they spoke about work they treated the word with the contempt most if us treat words like ■■■■■■■■■■.
i have a very distant relation who is worth many millions , income from his properties alone is in excess of 3 grand a week , yet he applied for and was granted full rate attendance allowance for his sick wife , he draws his state pension on top of his private pension and brags that his accountant gets him off most of his tax . that to me is sheer unadulterated greed , there should be checks in place to prevent people like him milking the system .
The average IQ in GB is around 100, if you added all the IQ’s in ‘Jeremy Kyle Street’ together, I think you’d struggle to get out of single figures !
Wot a load of SCUMBAGS !
Mouldy/Fungy (or whatever it’s name was) was proud to have a best mate/scumbag who was “The Best Shoplifter he knows” WTF are these ‘Animals’ on ?
