Is it D+E for the Bendy Bus… anyone?
No, just the D is required.
I suspect that the bus company will have designated drivers for bendy buses, that’s how it was when I was at First Manchester.

I would imagine that that trained in-house for them and only those trained would be allowed to drive them.
Are you sure it is only D?
I thought th back end is a trailer?
Here’s a link:
The engine is in the rear part so it couldnt move unless attached so its not really a trailer

Plus you cannot physically disconnect the rear portion, so it is not a bus and trailer, just a bus that bends in the middle

That’s the official reason I got from DVLA, they said the engine could of been placed at the front and it would of made no difference. Because you cannot detach any part of the bus then it’s considered a ‘rigid’ vehicle, in technical terms.

It is a D entitlement, however the bus companies require that you have a form o training/assesment on bendies
Thanks chap, seems the boss is being a ■■■■■■ again!
I suspect it’s less than the bus cannot be split and more that it would have cost TFL etc lots of cash to retrain existing drivers.
Making the rules suit their purposes, or is that just me being cynical

I belive TFL trained selected drivers based on experience…
Did that training involove a DSA style test though or just a bit of inhouse?

There is no specific DSA test for a Bendi-bus as it is covered by the D test.
I’m not saying that you can’t do the D test in a Bendi-bus but who would want to
I believe most Bendi-bus training is in-house with probably an internal certificate issued to confirm that the driver is competant to drive it.
But I stand to be corrected…
