It’s not hard is it if you need to stop stop if you don’t don’t
We have a no stopping policy and I pretty much stick to it. Once I’ve collected my paperwork etc the last thing I do before hunting for the unit is go to the toilet whether I need to or not. I usually don’t need to go but can always squeeze a bit out which might make all the difference 4 hours down the road.
And I always do the same at each customer I go to. Been caught out too many times in the past. But, when I have to go, I go and balls to the rules.

Exactly, hardly too demanding! Why must folk question other peoples requests?because I don
t think they are reasonable..now if you don
t like the way I work…say so,and I`ll [zb] offDriving for a couple of hours without stopping is unreasonable? Most people probably wouldn’t stop anyway but drivers being drivers once asked not too they see a chance to kick up a stink. And then wonder why we great treated like crap everywhere we go…
I agree with all that, but what if youve kipped outside the gate? what if it
s a longer run?

I hope not or I will be pee’ing on my chin

I took a couple of rubbish office jobs on agency after I was made redundant a couple of years ago (I couldn’t just sit around the house), the employers where great and bent over backwards to help, the agency on the other handWish I could time my wee wee’s, 90% of the time I reckon I would be fine, its the sneaky 10% that would get me wet pants
Comedy gold right there!!
Personally, When Im told not to stop I kind of, sort of, take it on board, but there
s a part of me that just wants to stop for no other reason than Im told not to! Anyway, I just nod an ok and carry on regardless. In answer to a previous question, I rarely drive 4.5hrs without stopping. I can
t remember the last time I did that.
I can`t think of any employed person who would work continuously for that long, even just staying seated for that long is really an achievement.
An achievement never seen in transport offices.
BTW, what is a high value load? Most loads are high value, if some more than others. 20 tons of baked beans would have a decent value. A load of empty europallets would pay my mortgage for a few months!!!
Maybe that explains the death of the beloved Transport Cafe…the only lorries that ever stop are running empty!!!
My bladder dicatates when I stop and following my ritual of having a cup of tea followed by a pint of water first thing in the morning, I’ll always need a pee before the first hour and then within two hours following that

If I kipped outside the gate I’d be ready to roll, full of tea and breakfast, quick spruce up and away. Surprisingly the beginning of the day is when I would find this easiest. And longer, well like I said previously, done Nottingham to Holyhead and we still do Coventry to Holyhead sometimes where its preferred that we don’t stop. I just make sure Im ready for it.
Had a high value load on Today 20 odd ton of wine and 3 hours from pint to point I planned in a 15 minute wee stop on the way (I had no instructions forbidding me to stop), an hour from destination pulled into services and they looked a bit dodgy so carried on and went to the loo at final destination.
My god did I ■■■■, it was one of them tricklers not the usual gusher, I was doing it for so long I thought I was peeing for someone else as well, anyway got a bit of overtime for my extra long pee so not a bad result, every cloud an all that.
Although I was weeing for so long I deceided to try for a ■■■ as well, in for a penny in for a pound.

I’ve had that when it just keeps on trickling…I always think it’s cause my bladder is actually full…
Can we stop this now?
i can`t eat straight away.
lets say you night out at Lincoln farm…you phone in for your next job,and your gaffer says “be at amazon rugely for 0600”
you take the minimum amount of daily rest, and although its tight you set off early(before café opens)and just make it on time. you back on a bay,and 60 mins later you are given your paperwork and told to take it to amazon Swansea without stopping. if it
s a time thing…then fair enough,i carry cereals…and can take a quick breakfast if needed…but no breakfast is not an option.
these companies lay down a blanket set of rules without realising every driver that goes in there may be operating under a different set of circumstances, with regards times etc.

I’ll just ask my boss if it’s OK to stop

Lucky escape, Not sure if the Lincoln has changed since the old days but the first thing I would be doing within 30 minutes of a breakfast there is ‘backing on to a bay’ (one hell of a quick tip if you know what i mean).
Right thats the last poop related coment from me honest.

exactly, if you can’t carry out a simple reasonable request maybe a job behind the tills at TESCO would be a better suit! NOt as if your bein asked to drive any distance like the old Astran lads etc, men and boys come to mind… and jobs worths!
this sort of thing is not too bad IF you know well
in advance what is expected
Argos MP was always told have a break before you leave if 2nd run
110 mile for gods sake…but if you wanted to pee then so be it…

So where on earth is the problem? If they say to you ‘This load is a bit late can you push on down there please’ you say ‘Yeah no worries’ but if its ‘This is a high value load, we’d prefer you don’t stop’ its all ‘You’re not the boss of me, you cant tell me what to do’?! Take a bloody sandwich
Drivers eh…glad I don’t have to employ them
WhiteWhiteWhite:
There are so many people on this site that just moan for the sake of moaning, If you were instructed not to stop for 2 hours for the security of a high value load then don’t stop, Jesus, I know this is a forum for people to voice their opinions but some people on here really ■■■■ me off. We do a job every day and the trailer always leaves late and it a hard 4 hour drive to make the boat and we always cut it really fine to make it on time, all 20 of my drivers know they need to use the toilet before they set off as there is NO stopping till they get to the dock, sometimes we get to the boat as the ramp is coming up, none of them moan about their constitutional rights or breach of some European Human Rights ■■■■■■■■, they just get on with it and do the job they are paid to do. I wonder just how many of these people on this thread would actually tell their boss that ““If I want to stop I’ll stop”” after he has been told not to. Plenty of keyboard warriors I think. If I posted on here the grass was green and the sky was blue there would be plenty of toss pots arguing i’m wrong !!

No, not keyboard warriors, not all of us. Some of us actually have a bit of backbone and are willing to stand up for ourselves? I think you have scheduling issues with your boat run. Maybe you should re-evaluate that before one of your drivers kills somebody because he’s rushing for the boat? Frankly, I’m a bit surprised you posted such twaddle.
For christ sake are we lorry drivers or baby’s ,cut a bottle down and use it on the go !
