Being prepared.

I had to pick my lad up earlier from the TA centre in Blackpool. Normally i’d have told him it’s not worth venturing out on a night like this, But it was his first time shooting and there’s no way he could miss that.
So off i went with an axe, bow saw, Quilt and flask of tea in the car.
How many others would be prepared?
We can’t be prepared for everything nature throws at us, But we can a least make an attempt to look after ourselves.

There’s always a sleeping bag chainsaw, gas stove, brew kit etc in the back of my van. Used the chainsaw yesterday to assist a lady old bill (old Betty?) to move a fallen tree on the A30

My youngest is in the cadets.
In the high winds there were trees being blown over and blocking roads. That’s what I was preparing for.

Wednesday saw some of the most severe storms in uk history ,and your youngest was out learning to shoot!!! In that wind . And he s in the cadets, not the sas , if he s got a good shot in that weather , we have the next andy mcnabb . Philip I think you are full of ■■■

Have you never heard of indoor ranges?

Lol.

You would normally of sugested it was not worth venturing out on a night like this , which to me sounds as tho where your lad is going he will be exposed to weather. Not an indoor range . Why chuck the weather into the thread , it had nowt to do with your ■■■■■■■■ (sorry) story . Whilst it s admirable that you seem to be prepared for every situation the world can throw at you. , it was just strong wind and rain , and not the appocolyse . I was on the road till late Thursday and did see plenty of trees over , I did nt see a need to wrap myself up in a quilt and start parading my bow saw and axe , I just got on with thing s . Anyway aren’t you supposed be in afghan or Bulgaria or some place now .

Richie22 you’re a genius.

You’ve completely missed the point.

Phil was on that he had to drive his son to the TA centre to go shooting on an indoor range.

This required him to go outside his house, get into a vehicle of some kind, drive said vehicle on roads where the chances of downed trees, flooding, accidents was increased, therefore Phil prepared for this by carrying some kit that would make his trip easier should he encounter any of the above.

Is that clearer?

How do you dress yourself in the morning?

+1 What a tool

It’s interesting we’ve heard nothing from Richie.

Perhaps his mother has banned him from the computer and he’s sat in a corner eating his crayons

If you have a spare hour or two go back through limeyphil’s posts on here, then you may see where Richie is coming from :bulb:

Its the sa80 mk2 now

I dropped a driver off in the middle of Bury Park in Luton (he’d been sent home because he was drunk) as he’s was getting out, I asked if he’d be ok (as it was a rough area)
He answered "yea, I’ve got my Axe’
I was shocked “What”
He proceeded to pull a Hand Axe out of his bag, that he used to carry around every where !!!

He was prepared for anything. LOL.

I appreciate Phil isn’t universally liked on here.

Richie22 took Phil for a ■■■■ based on his (Richie’s) inability to understand a simple post. That’s what I was driving at.

As for wider opinion on Phil, it’s not relevant here and I think judging people by what they post here is fairly worseless given that in the main we don’t know each other.

I take people as I find them, Phil has never annoyed me, Richie did (stupidity does) hence my reply.
