Being forced by company to overload everyday

I am working for a company driving 3.5 ton sprinters and luton vans delivering laundry to hotels in sacks each one weighs in at 15 kg I leave the factory. Every day with between 150 and 200 sacks and return with the same most days I can’t get two fingers between the tyre and wheel arch I am carrying double the legal load yet if I protest I am told to go home and they will get someone who will do it they also want the laundry back asap so expect you to work 10 to 12 hours straight without breaks I’m getting very stressed out about it but feel I can’t leave as won’t be able to claim or they may give me bad reference don’t know what to do any advice ■■?

Here’s what i would do, not suggesting you do it as its probably illegal too, but great fun !!
Go to the gov.uk website, download a copy of the DVSA logo, now insert it into a word document, and write a letter to your boss, as if its from the DVSA. Asking him to contact…[google for the name of a local enforcemnt officer], regarding vehicle overloading and excessive hours. Word it cleverley… Then, mail it to your boss . The letter should give him 7 days to contact the officer. Then hope he rings them and starts hanging himself. Do a real nice official letter with all the DVSA contact details, numbers, website address and email contacts on it

Disclaimer : Don’t really do it of course. Its a joke.

Edit to add: print the letter out and mail it snail mail !!!

If overloaded tell em to sod off as for the hours ■■■■ it up.

Go into the office and take a dictaphone (you can do it on your mobile) and tell them you will not break the law. If your boss sacks you report him to VOSA and claim for unfair dismissal. I’m a stickler for securing my load, it’s the ■■■■■■ that don’t that normalise unprofessionalism. They get around quicker and make those who want to do it right look bad, but if they ever get done you can bet your bottom dollar no boss is going to back them. It’s the same for you. Grow a pair. If you run over a kid because your breaks don’t stop you what are you gonna say then?

just a point for your safety do you have any idea what that load as said before using your figures at around 5 tons is doing to the road worthiness of the vehicle?
3.5 tn jobs are 10 a penny in my neck of the woods leave, shop the boss, licence and life safe.

Checkweigh, even if you have to pay for it yourself at a public weighbridge. If vehicle is grossly overweight, you are breaking the law. Take it back, and tell boss if he sacks you and gives you a negative reference you will take the weight ticket to VOSA and tell them what you have been expected to do.

Do I really need to tell you what a knobhead you are?

Do I really need to tell you what a knobhead you are?

WOW, chill dude…
It’s prolly the language barrier getting in the way. You might want to re-phrase your comment making it a bit more clear
Possibly :stuck_out_tongue:
Maybe
Dunno : FCKM

No truck with trolls. :exclamation:

I’ve just bought a 3.5 ton van for ‘light haulage’ (when I aint on the ship) and if the poster fancy a job I promise he won’t carry any more than the max payload plus a discretionary 35% on bonus. The van will be fully insured for private use, GiT for the minimum £5 cover but no P/L so dont cause any ■■■■ ups. Reply in the first instance to raymundoski@rumania.ru

I have resigned I have wrote a letter with my views on overloading and resigned with immediate effect on health and safety grounds they just accepted it no questions

You have done the right thing, hope you find a better position soon. You could print out those pages and send them to the transport commission name names and let them deal with it.The sad fact is some other mug will be driving your old route to-morrow.

…which is very poor of them.

They should have asked questions…shows how little they care.

I’d report them if I were you, as soon as I had another job

Revenge…a dish best eaten cold!

Dannyp78 you have a pm.

Kaistar:
They are not allowed to give a bad reference

That old ■■■■■■■■ again. YES THEY ARE. They can give a bad reference as long as it is factually correct. So if you were sacked for bad timekeeping or absence for example, they can state that in a reference. They can also state theft, drinking at work, violence etc etc etc.

The law only requires a reference to be factually correct.

dieseldog999:
put up or shut up…either leave or get on with it.sprinters have a gvw of 3500,but they still sit straight with 3 ton in the back, hence that’s why there getting loaded like that.either get on with the job,or jack it in. no point in bleating about it or grassing him in,though if you did, then why leave the door open for the retribution from him that would surely follow. chuck the job in,or get on with it and take your chances till you find a better job.

Why does it not surprise me that the Irish idiot supports running bent as hell? You really are a disgrace. My only regret is not being able to find your real name and address because I’d send all your posts to your local traffic commissioner because you don’t deserve to have a LGV license.

Next phone call is to VOSA and report the company.

Tris:
Go into the office and take a dictaphone (you can do it on your mobile) and tell them you will not break the law.

When I told a lady at work I was going to use dictaphone she said there was no way anyone was going to talk into that large smelly thing.

oh dear conor vs dd round 77 is off.

pass the popcorn again will you :open_mouth:

VOSA won’t give a crap, I wouldn’t waste the time.

If you’re not happy somewhere resign, say your piece and move on.

looks like that the toys getting flung out of the pram again in zero hours agency jobland again( no surprise there though).I wonder what workforce you would pick out of the lot on here if you were wanting a bunch of drivers for your own business…I would reckon there wouldn’t be much difference in zero hours workload…think of all the agencies going to the wall with nobody to cover the sought after nightshift trunks, but wouldn’t it be great to actually get a reply to the post in question instead of a rambling ■■,
