Beet in to Newark

“Lumbered” with 10 days of loading beet into British Sugar at Newark.

Would anyone be undertaking or undertaken similar recently?

Any pointers you have would be appreciated…

Thanks
Mardybum

British Sugar?
I’ve taken molasses out, just pull to the right side as you go in the gate as if you’ve not been before you will need the induction at the security hut on the weighbridge, they will instruct you from there.

Never done beet there but…

You will need ALL the H&S kit. Hard hat, visor, goggles, industial strength codpiece protector etc etc.

They might still split weigh in and out.

I’m sure a full time beet boy will expand on things.

Thanks for the replies.

Yes, British Sugar at Newark. These guys seem a little late on lifting their beet compared to others in the area, however, that’s not my problem.

Been on Wissington previously for collections, so hoping that induction will count in one way or another, if not, no problem - hourly paid and all that

Much appreciated, thank you…

I’ve collected out of Wissington as well, had to do an induction there to

If you happen to like your Ska music check out the Coventry music museum covmm.co.uk/2016/

TM has finally come through…

Newark for 7am, for an induction. Got the guys name and mobile too, makes life a little easier.

Makes a change working for a company that not only maintain and FIX their fleet, but actually provide all information about the job too…I was even asked if I could do a Sunday, rather than being planned it…

No vending machines

Jimmy Somerville used to haul for Bronski Beet .

Only done beet into Newark once, did induction on weighbridge as I already had a British Sugar card. Make sure you only have offside ring on on tailboard, stop before weighbridge to undo twist locks etc. Follow the Rd round to the pad, banksman will open tailboard. Body up then pull forward then once load is out you must stop until body is completely down. Drive back to weighbridge and then you can close tailboard. Can’t really go wrong.
