Beet Factory Chaos last Friday

Wissington was a nightmare on Friday but I must say I was impressed with the attitude of the drivers waiting. No pushing in, no horns just everyone waiting their turn.
At a RDC there would have been mayhem

Shame the same couldn’t be said for Lidl at Weston Super Mare last week.

All the parking full, the roundabout at the bottom full of parked and waiting trucks and the majority of bays in use and occupied,

The bad thing being was the queue of more lorries down the centre of the yard meaning none of the people on bays could get off and no one could get out the parking to move into a bay.

Turned into a vicious circle of stationary vehicles.

Maybe they were hourly paid not OD’s

… You didn’t mention… Goods In… Hell Driver Tippers O’ Norfolk and compatriots racing for the bloody weighbridge…or

Goods Out… Despatch Warehouse…

It’s a shame the majority of the ‘drivers’ and I use that term loosely don’t have a bit more respect when on the road rather than tear arsing around tailgating and generally bullying people on the road just to get to Wissington.

I hear what you say but that can be countered with fridge boxes weighing about 12 ton wet through harrying up tippers with 44 ton on which are struggling to get away from roundabouts.

There’s good and bad drivers in all aspects of transport

I agree there are bad drivers everywhere I’m yet to see a tipper driver that drives sensibly.

Salt of the Earth

When I did a couple off campaigns it was paid per load mostly, though that was a long time ago

Had the same a couple of weeks ago at the Bury factory. The computer system went down and so we sat in the queue at the in bridges for nearly an hour. Turns out the system had a massive brain ■■■■ and in the end they shut the automatic bridge and everything had to go through the manned bridge, scan the driver card, get a blank ticket, every single load was being sampled, and then another blank ticket apart from out weight on the out bridge. I remember taking a handful of tickets home that night and I had to manually fill them in with the weight I calculated I had tipped.

But like you say, all was very calm, blokes just having general chit chat on the CB, a couple stood by lorries having a chat. Nothing rude or irate, and when I got to the bridge I found the girls on the bridge to be the most flustered out of all of us!

I even managed to give the inside of the cab a good clean during the waiting time!

Stupid comment. How on earth can you class every tipper driver as bad.

Especially with some of your fellow drivers.

Yep it’s a horrendous place at times lately, I normally deliver chilled so what I do is park round the front (chilled side) and walk through the warehouse to the goods in and that’s so much quicker and easier than running the gauntlet of driving round the back.

I didn’t say every, I said I’m yet to see one, there must be one out there who’s brain isn’t in the units outside locker.

It gets worse … Must be the effects of the fridge
