Sent out a few emails today as I thought I might as well get the ball rolling whilst I wait for my license.
Had a reply straight away from a big name in my area - said to come in to see him the end if next week for a chat. Nervous and excited!
Their trucks and trailers are mint!

Is that your main concern?
Pay.length of shifts, type of work, shift pattern would be my first wonder. Remember, the bigger and fancier the wagons is usually the lower hourly rate
Yeah course…
No but it’s a bonus - just think it shows good business.
But as you’ve said hopefully find out about all that next week. Still learning.

Not always. Remember these companies, esp the big boys, will think nothing of buying a dozen brand new Merc Actros or Volvo FH500s yet plead poverty when drivers ask for another 50p p/h.
Dont get me wrong,im not trying to ■■■■ on your parade. Well done on getting some interest so soon and I hope it all goes well for you. But a lot of the guys on here go off on one if they think your only interested in big, fancy wagons above all else
Let us know how you get on next week
Well done Dave! Hope it works out pal. As you probably know from my rambling posts,i dropped lucky with a similar situation.

that’s fair enough, I take your point. You are in the game and I’m still a noob at the end of the day.
what I meant was the units and trailers are very well kept/good condition, not that they are fancy and brand new. Just see some right tat, especially where I work at the moment - however they do pay well.

Cheers man, lol yes I do know.
I’ll be sure to let everyone know how I get on.
I see what you’re saying. They run well looked after standard kit. Not top line bling motors to attract wheel polishers. Nothing wrong with that, good observation. Always a good start. Pay and conditions the first thing but being given a rat to drive makes life hard to keep legal if you’ve no support so a tidy fleet is always a good start . To complicate things sometimes pay and conditions aren’t necessarily linear to good kit though as you’ll find out unless you strike lucky
. Good luck with the job!

good luck dave

beware of the old truckers saying ‘all flash,no cash!’
