I checked yesterday from the A 274. There are no signs visible at the entrance to Park Wood industrial estate . Bircholt rd/Sutton rd junction is very significantly obstructed by ongoing roadworks with three-way working controlled by traffic lights.
T
Excatly plus when I went it twas dark and raining.
I explained asked the blokes that removed it to.show me the signs they couldn’t they said appeal it which I have.
But as ever it’s online only …got am auto reply saying we will review it and see.
Don’t give up if it is rejected. Gist had to appeal three times over a clamped 45 minute break in a layby before KCC admitted their wrongdoing. I just hope they claimed for conequential losses.

There are plenty of large arable farms in Kent that could apply for retrospective planning permission to allow lorry parking on hard standing concrete areas on some bigger farms, win win for all , income for the farmers if they set up a SNAP account, it gets lorries off the road.
Drivers don’t ask for much , only access to hot water, showers , a rest room ; A Portakabin would suffice to cook a meal in and toilets.
But the issue is Nimbies who will make a fuss and prevent it with the same old sound bites of menacing thundering juggernauts dangerously driving over pavements and nearly killing the local swan, duck , badger or toad who crossed the road to copulate, or the toddlers on the way to school as they get out the new Range Rover .
Most farms are separate from the farm house or farmers residence and some have a few farms spread all over the place so won’t be disturbed by lorry traffic and early morning engine running.
It would be much better to massively expand the North Sea and west channel crossings and put a punitive surcharge on all ferry and shuttle tickets regarding freight journeys originating/destined from/to other parts of the country which would be nearer to them.
As for Nimbies any self respecting Nimby would have long ago moved out to the already over developed Soth East to the Cotswolds or North Yorkshire or ■■■■■■■ etc.To which your answer is lets concrete over more of it and in doing so destroy the best food production region in the country.
It’s a strange place, Kent.

I dare say that the solution to this would entail hauliers getting together. Not in the way you’d imagine though. Instead of trying to cut each others throats and take “backloads” out of each others front gardens for suicidal rates, perhaps they should start offering up yard space during the week for fellow hauliers to utilise while their own trucks are out working?
There must be atleast a dozen kent hauliers with large yards that are mostly empty space during the week. Helping each other out and offering some safe parking with the understanding that the favour can be reciprocated would actually alleviate much of this problem.

I have suggested this for years, the driver doesn’t need much, a local pub or chippy could benefit, the yard has some extra eyes. I have also suggested that any industrial estates / business parks that get planning permission should add lorry driver facilities into the application.
Adding parking and facilities is never going to happen unless it becomes a mandatory condition for approval.

Just thought I’d add that bit at the end.
For those of you that do venture across the water, you’ll know what I mean .
Interesting article . Ban /clmaping was supposed be for 6 months to ease brexit chaos.
Bit they want to extend it permenalty . And not suppised as it’s raised £200k since january
I urge every one to follow the link on.the post above scroll.down see the consultation here at bottom of page the go onto this box on picture. And register to join then you can vote to.oppse the changes to extending the charge to permenat.
I have it’s saying 77 for.keeping the changes 70 against. Hopefully get enough votes to change it to against.
Unless they find a way to bring it in amyway
Thanks if you do
Tried to post a link and cocked it.
Will try again.
Edit;…
Can’t get the full link, but this screenshot will do.
Apparentlly they want to make HGV parking ban in Kent permanent.
Does anybody else find this ■■■■’s terminology highly offensive?
‘‘Infested with hgv.s’’
INFESTED ffs !! …What tf are we as far as these councillor arse holes concerned?
Vermin.?
Who and wtf do they think they are eh?
Article says it was. Brought in as a temporary.measurw to ease congestion due to brexit.
Which in a way I can understand. They didnt want 1000s of foreign truck’s parking up on all the estates waiting.
But like the mellenium bug…it came.and went planes didn’t fall put the sky.
Brexit cane and went.
But now they want to extend it due to the fact in 3 months its raked in over £200k.
Other worrds the council are making £100k a month from.it. and.if it becomes permemet I can see other councils getting ideas.

Things will never change in this country as regards truck parking whilst it is seen as something that should be avoided in the area rather than a problem that should be addressed properly.
These ■■■■■ are so out of touch and so far up their own arses…one of them said that because there has not been many repeat offenders documented, it proves there are alternative places to park.
If that does not say it all about these clowns, I don’t know what does.
So what do you do now if you find yourself in that ■■■■ hole after something has gone wrong inadvertently, with little time left)
Do you park up knowing fully that you are going to get clamped ?
Or.
Do you knowingly just continue over your time with all the ■■■■ that will bring…especially if you have a bump.
Genuine question.
The short-sightedness of the ‘other’ councils too. It is only ‘working’ in Kent, as we have these ‘other counties’ to park up in. If they also become part of the problem, then eventually if it can’t be done by a day driver, it won’t get done.
On a positive note, just been talking to my son in law, who’s 2 mates got clamped on an ind est near Canterbury, where they were both tipping next day, somewhere near Sturry he said.
Turns out it was a private estate, the owner turned up and told them to cut the clamps off and he would take responsibility, as it was a small private estate and the clampers had no right to be on there.
So a victory for some truckers at last.
Why is this thread like wide screen btw?

Rob, I totally agree with your comments here about this clown, but and a very BIG BUT,
I have parked up in laybyes in Kent in the past, be it Aylesford, Snodland, or between Lenham and Ashford,
they are an absolute cesspit, used and abused by us, the truck drivers,
Doesn’t matter their- place of origin, Brit drivers can be pigs too.
We , yes we , the truck driver , have created a problem where we don’t respect where we park,
you’ve seen it I’m sure, be it on the A1, A20, A5, we use these places and then trash them,
so no wonder Mr Council man is saying “enough is enough”
Yep, I fully understand that there are a lot of low life amongst us who leave their crap lying around,.who are without question in the wrong.
Having said that, why not provide bins as there once always was in lay bys, and a skip on ind estates, I know there is cost involved, but cheaper than providing parks as they SHOULD be doing, as a necessity being that Kent is a primary route for trucks.
It is a situation that NEEDS sorted, not ignored and then made worse by their present actions.
