Hi everyone,
What’s the minimum I can get set up as an owner driver with? We’re just in the process of selling my late grandparents’ house and I’m likely to get £25K of that. I’ve been looking on the Walker Movements site and I can get a decent DAF tractor (Euro 5, around 2007-8) for £8-10K.
What else is going to cost money? I understand I’ll need an operator’s licence and insurance, somewhere secure to keep the vehicle and also a transport manager’s qualification because I’ll be responsible for my own hours. Will I be able to do it for that amount or will I need to find more?
Your better of posting in the owner drivers forum. All the info you need will be there.

You also need a wedge in the bank per each truck you own, I think it’s something like £8,100
for the first truck, unless you’ve already got plenty of work lined up don’t bother and put that money towards a house or pay a chunk of your mortgage.
Won’t go through the whole deal (typing makes my thumb ache).
Don’t buy the truck till operators licence is in your hand!
Bank the cash, the more you can show to T/C the better chance of getting O/licence without financial conditions attached.
Was about to say - you would need an operators licence. Apparently they’re quite hard to get (tests)

theres no exam to get an operators license, you are thinking of the CPC
