Beaver tail lorry and drag

Currently running a 6x2 beaver tail lorry for moving plant.

Thinking about a moving to a lorry and drag to then be able to move 2 telehandlers.

New 6x2 beaver tail and twin axle drag with a beaver tail.

What are peoples thoughts on how to connect the drag to the lorry:

  1. Hydraulic beaver tail on the lorry- raise the tail and then connect drag back in under as most lorry and drag combinations do. There would be 6t sitting on the beaver tail. Would the beaver tail lift with this weight on it?

  2. Fixed beaver tail with a hitch on the back to connect to drag. Seen some pictures on the web like this but would it be strong enough to pull 15t?

If anyone has had any experience with this or has some pictures of some good examples it would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Elliot

Have you considered a hydraulic headboard /ramp on the trailer so you can drive straight across with out dropping the trailer ,I appreciate that you still need to be able to load the Lorry when solo though, also I’d go for a triaxle trailer to give you more axle weight scope when carry other loads .

Thanks for the advice. Problem is that the lorry would be solo 80% of the time.

What about a hookloader?

As I’m sure you’re aware the further the hitch is from the rear axle the more unstable the outfit becomes.
