I have always been surprised to see the Belgians installing or replacing their weighscales, these must be purely targeted at the Dutch sneaking over the border at 50 tonnes as France and Germany run at lower weights than them
Oi you, you can’t have it both ways.
Either the limit for trucks travelling through European countries other than there own is 4.0m high and 40t gross weight. Or in some countries you can go higher or heavier, eg France - unlimited height (same as UK); Belgium - 44t on air and 5 axles.
SIMON WEIGHTS for the BENNI-LUX are different to the 40tn limit else where
mate and the 4.0m trailer height is written down for all international traffic
unless its STGO , and was posted, every country can have other weights and in the
case of France heights for National traffic…that is also allowed ,
as regards the BENNI-LUX we used to run from Vlissingen (NL)
to Contern (L) on 5axles and at 44tns although we were German company,
sorry also forgot we loaded containers as well for the kombi (RAIL)
and also went to a total of 44 tns back into Germany from Holland,
Slightly off topic…Is it true there is a 100km radius from Calais inbound in place where 44 tonnes is permitted but outside of this the weight is reduced to 40 tonnes
I’m sure its just a myth about 100kms around Calais. At NS Clarkes we had a job loading plastic in Calais by the docks, wouldnt let you go with anything over 40T. 1 driver got done at Bolougne peage after loading in Rouen for being 43.5T, also at Punchards we loaded logs in Caen dock and couldnt weigh out over 40T. Maybe its ok for 44T if transiting through France though…
Okay for all those who wish to know the following link below
