Be carefull, dodgy job offer

there is a bloke offering european work, usually through the jobcentre.
he’s offering top money, arranges interviews at various large business premises by hireing a room.
he used an Asda corporate suite on one occasion.
he will offer you a job, but you must pay a £50.00 deposit for your uniform. he will get in touch to tell you where to pick up the truck. then you turn up to some empty premises expecting to find a brand new scania, and fridge trailer, and then you hear no more from him.
if i get any more info, i’ll let you know.

and, NO, it isn’t me that has fell for it, before you all start.

Seems like he’s going to a lot of effort to get just 50quid off of you, are you sure this is not some drivers BS?

Never know… If he hired the room for 10 Hours and had applicant per hour or even 30 mins thats 10-20 applicants on for 50 quid :open_mouth:

£50 off how many drivers?
but, yes it could be BS.

There was something similar on daytime tele a while ago(don’t ask!) This involved a ‘high end’ chauffeuring job.It was iirc a lot more than£50, but drip fed—uniform, security checks blah blah, then when the fall guy was finally told to report for duty, the office was empty,no S class Merc waiting for him.Nothing.

Depending on how many applicants actually part with the £50 (?)

Thats true I wouldn’t for company uniform, but if times are hard and applicant really needs the job they might, as the thought would be “I’ll make the £50 back, when working”.

Not unless you were daft you wouldn’t.

You don’t have to buy your own uniform…if you do, it’s a tell them to stick it up their arse situation… :smiling_imp:

you would have to be as thick as pig [zb] to pay any company for uniform…you can’t tell me that blokes have fallen for this.

The need for asterisks is your clue that you’re trying to use a banned word, so please just type it and leave it. dd.

Is it not You who offers that Job?
I just ask as i remember your Offer about liverpool to Manchester and to Boat :grimacing: for £100.-

Anyone asks for money, when they offer YOU work…And you fall for this? :unamused:

This has to be a wind up! No way, ever, would i pay for uniform. If i had been out of work for a long time then it would be a case of justifying every penny and common sense would say dont do it. If they want £50 for uniform then what do they want if you have a prang, your house? If a firm is spending big money on a truck then a bit of uniform shouldnt be an issue.

Iv been some odd places for job interviews and/or to register with an agency —peoples homes —hotels - pubs -restaurant at the local Tesco store- Watford Gap services —car park of a firm.

I would have paid it but there’s no need now as I’ve just won the Nigerian Lottery so no more job interviews for me  I’ve only had to pay my friend a couple of hundred quid and give him my bank details for him to sort it

i offered the work, and my boss was paying a days wage for the work.
i didn’t ask for any money off anyone. :unamused:
