it’s ok to have guys running across a motorway with signs

I know its dangerous, the only other alternative is to put a rolling road block on, that would cause mayhem with the volume of traffic in that area.

What, like they insinuated the police always put a rolling road block on when setting up roadworks.something I’ve never seen happen before.

I think that was due to the amount of contractor vehicles on the job that needed to get into the roadworks safely. I was travelling that section every night when they were repairing the joints between the sections and the same time every night the cop car would slow the traffic right down to allow the vehicles to go into the roadwork sections.

Matey got a nice tip of £25, have to say i did see the cat leg it as well

Good luck to the litter picker. ■■■■ job. If he can have an extra £25 everyday then good on him!

Pretty embarrassing to watch as a truck driver. No amount of poor editing can hype up the dangerous drivers cutting over the island at the lane closure.
Om surprised they didn’t allow a temp closure so the fitter could remove the tyre and get the truck moving instead of leaving it blocking the road.

As it was already blocking lane one and the flat appeared to be on the nearside, wouldn’t it have caused less hold up to allow the repair and get him on his way rather than leave him blocking lane one for several hours?
And I’ve seen a good tyre fitter change a tubeless tyre without removing the wheel.

Flat was OSR

Yes. Osr. Also, it was on the hard shoulder. They decided to wait until after rush hour before closing lane 1. Correct decision. Let him wait.
Numptyism apart, and they were numptys, the noise may be unavoidable but why do they need so many flashing orange lights? The roads closed, if they themselves can’t see a planer unless it’s flashing all over the place it’s a poor show.
Move? Those houses are next to worthless. The old couple lived there before the motorway so deserve a bit of sympathy, but the rest of them must’ve bought them Mecca cheap but are not willing to live with the downside. We all knew the db,s would be more during the day than during the works.
Very embarrassing for us hgv drivers unfortunately…bottles and dodgy driving ect.
Still, an interesting program.

Having done many nights on motorway resurfacing I admit that the flashing lights are a blooming nuisance!! When we did the M1 northbound carriageway between 27 and 28 we had to reverse down from the junc 28 sliproad for around 3/4 of a mile and the orange beacons from plant vehicles were really dazzling, a couple of lads flattened some signs because they couldn’t see them for glare. Not so bad in built up areas where there is other lighting from street lamps and houses etc but in an open, dark, space they can be blinding. Still it was rate and a half so we made some money from it!

I watched the programme and wasn’t impressed by the two “Dummy Brummies” but I don’t think that they would get a lot of sympathy for their cause, maybe they ought to get a night job somewhere? The resurfacing aspect hasn’t changed much over the years though, some good fun to be had with some of those lads and they would usually give us drivers a brew.

Highlight for me was that bloke
screaming into that decibel meter
and his cat legging it.

Yea that was funny, and the bit when the fella asked him if he thought he had a problem ,he paused looked vacant and said yes

Not good to see trucks swerving round the truck that was shutting the motorway though.

I was a bit alarmed by that as well, proper BMW & Audi driver behaviour that. This profession isn’t half infested with ■■■■■■■ these days.

Worth watching? Or is it a screen punch rage fest?

Lol. Sad that even though names were blurred you could still tell the TNT Langdons and InHealth trucks. Sometimes a recognisable corporate brand can be a bind.

Did you notice the Chuckle brothers that were moaning about the noise and the collection of very expensive cars on the drive.
The house looked like a lot of money had been spent. They could afford to move.

Defo milking the compo them two,not as stupid as they looked, surprisingly.

I was hoping it would explain more on why the HA shut lanes and roads all the time but didn’t really do that, as in the overnight m6 closer why not leave one land open? If u doing lane 3 why not leave h/s open? Felt sorry for the old couple can u image the government just putting a motorway at the end of your garden today, glad they got the work done. You can hear the tyre fitter gunning the nuts off as the HA womble is asking for a lane closure so think that might just be for tv. The woman with the “puncher” was so fake it was funny. When she is going on about the car coming up behind her I think u can see a truck behind her. As for the truck bits don’t really like the fact it was implied we drive along ■■■■■■■ in bottles, I’m guessing these are from overnight or when in traffic jam. And should be binned anyway. As for the idiots cutting in at the last minute on the closer first they all passed over a solid white line, second it’s hugely dangerous and lastly did u see all British (poss 1 Irish).

I’ve lost count of the amount of bottles of “truckers tizer” I’ve seen on the hard shoulder, its common place, and no closures in the area for quite a while.

I just hope those pair of whingers don’t get wind of the fact that Nottingham Council are now moving folk to hotels because of the noise from overnight tramway work, that will give them even more ammo! :unamused:

The driver of the wagon that was putting out the cones was sound.Gets abuse from fellow wagon drivers ( well most of us do at times ) but to be spat on by another driver is absolutely disgusting behaviour :imp:

Having worked on the “black” I can tell that Amey guy that however much he says it- you cant keep a road planer quiet, its an aggressive piece of kit that’s designed to tear up roads- The machine is shotting 20+ tonne of road material into a steel bodied tipper, off a converyor belt, in 5-8 minutes that’s not going to be quiet either and that makes noise, for those have a go at the black gang crew- that job is far more techincal and difficult than the programme shows- I have been on the job and as a truck driver/banksman was earning in excess of 52K a year ( and that was 15 years ago) and the guys on the gang were on a lot more, _ if they were the idiots as some here to think- then they are idiots earning a lot more than you- who is the mug?

It is a dangerous job especially when you don’t have a full closure, trust me when a truck clips a cone at 56 mph and sends it flying if it hits you its going to hurt a lot, and it happens a lot… the amount of cars that get confused and enter the road works at full speed is unreal. -these are reasons why they now go for full closures, as the motorway using public including truck drivers cant be trusted to be sensible through road works

As for the abuse I had almost everything thrown at me including a soiled babies nappy because we dared to repair a road that if we hadnt would have had to be closed for a lot longer.

Don’t knock the black gangs they are only doing a job the same as you

Amen, at the end of the day, they want to earn a living and go home to their families at the end of the shift - don’t we all?
