BBC mistaken again

The BBC have mistaken a flat bed transit van for a lorry.
How can a supposed serious news agency get away with this time after time.
Woman hit by reversing lorry dies

Helen Morton was hit by the lorry in Maryhill in the north of Glasgow
A woman has died after being hit by a lorry which was reversing into a scrap metal yard in Glasgow.

Helen Morton, 44, from Cadder in East Dunbartonshire, was seriously injured when she was struck by the Ford Transit flatbed on Lochburn Road in Maryhill.

The incident happened at about 15:45 on Friday afternoon. Ms Morton was taken to the city’s Western Infirmary but died a short time later.

Strathclyde Police have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.

A spokesman said Lochburn Road can be busy with commercial traffic and asked anyone with information to contact Kirkintilloch Police Office.

It’s not theirs anymore,
This is our England now.
Paaaaarrrrrrttttttttyyyyyyyy

Im sure Mr Morton is appalled by the BBCs insinuation that a Ford Transit flatbed is a lorry. It must only compound the awful situation he finds himself in at this time of loss.

Lorry - A motor vehicle designed to carry cargo.

I hope this helps at this tragic time.

I can sort of see his point but even my mrs calls a friends transit with a live stock body on the back a bloody ‘lorry’.
As far as the city types are concerned though, theres not alot of differance.

Before anyone else says it…

some people call Transits lorries…So what?

Are you sure its a livestock body ,not a horse box?
Seen loads of “Horses in transit”

And this clearly isn’t a Transit.

No only if it’s a mark 2 or older. How much did the ■■■■■■ get for their scrap?

Probably no mistaken- lorry just sounds better more dramatic, im amazed more people are not killed. People really are stupid.

Surely the serious point being made by the original post is that this is yet more negative press for ‘lorries’ when there has been no such involvement of said vehicle. We know that fatal accidents involving vans and cars are an everyday occurrence but they do not attract headlines. This story will reinforce negative ideas about lorry drivers and their perceived manner of driving. But that will continue forever, I am sure.

yes exactly, a flat bed transit can be driven by anyone with a driving licence, a lorry so to speak needs training and at least one more driving test.
Why should our reputation be soiled by mistakes from any part of the media.

The public hate lorries,so this propaganda fuels it by a lazy journalist that could not be bothered to look up the difference,it was a van that did the deed.Like they say the cruise ship is boat when it is a ship.

Perhaps it has got something to do with the fashion for ‘modernising’ or upgrading our language. I, ‘myself’ am not and never will be a ‘Brit’ and I don’t drive a ‘Truck’ … I am an English Lorry Driver. Workshops are staffed by mechanics, fitters or engineers; not ‘technicians’. The guy running the shop floor is a foreman and not a ‘manager’. This extends into all walks of life too, The Olympic athlete Steve Redgrave was an oarsman not a ‘rower’.

Not as dramatic as a “Juggernaught” :open_mouth:
Were they ships or boats?

Yeah, I thought he was pretty good too.
