So what you’re saying is the drivers get fined even if these illegals are found still on the French side of the channel ?
I didn’t know that, I presumed it was was on the English side.
Yes. UK customs are in the port at Calais, if you drive up to them and are found to have illegals on due to being made to sit out on the road for half an hour queuing to get in to the port, you are fined.
Seal the trailer properly and padlock the doors, if you suspect that any may have got in the trailer then drive into the french shed (before the checkin, you’re still in france) and refuse to move until they check it out and remove any illegals, done it myself so not talking mmtm.

Not strictly true. You will only be fined on the french side once you pass through british passport control. So long as you go through the co2 check and get your paperwork stamped you’ve done what you can.

Not true at all according to a border agency chap you will only be fined when entering dover not Calais they say if you have done all checks in Calais and still have them on in dover then you have hid them intentionally the problem arises when you have checked everything but there is nothing stopping them from jumping from one truck to another while on ferry crossing
Are we saying then that you WILL NOT be fined if caught with illegals on once through UK passport control in Calais and in the UK customs shed, which for legal purposes as far as I’m aware, is considered UK territory just as the port of Dover is. ■■?

Same as. I’m pretty sure most of the fines issued are in Calais by UK customs once beyond UK passport control, rather than upon arrival in Dover.
