Poor old Harwich, really is starting too look like such a hovel compared too Felixstowe.
I spent the day there yesterday with me youngest lad, him waving at the lorries hahaha… (big cheers to the lads who accommodated his demands for some hornige if you see this lol)… an just having a general wonder of the front, spent a pretty penny in the lifeboat shop which has some cool shizzle, and just generally wandered about whilst observing what’s on the Docks across the stream and on the doorstep.
But yeah my god it’s really starting to feel so miserable, an very forgotten, very little to attract/retain visitors unless your a bit more olde worldly like me [emoji16]
Then on our way out i noticed the proposed Bathside Bay is still just a fenced off non entity, been like it forever now, yet the town really does need new life and I feel could be a real player if say we need to start using trailers more for goods in/out over the boxes that may not be used for a while…?..
But yeah just generally it really feels it needs a purpose again, plus it’s not exactly a welcoming picture for those who may wish to spend some pennies on their way through, barron landscape, rubbish strewn, ■■■■ roads…
it could be so much happier if only a purpose could be found, as the cruise ship things not really done much it seems, and the wind sectors not seeming to have brought nowt in either, but what’s to do?
doubt it will get developed , now that Felixstowes dock has become a real backwater,i mean if the chinks cant make it work there theres no chance for Harwich. Ive always liked Dovercourt its like time stood still there in the 1950s no bad thing. On Felixstowe seafront a revamped chippy has opened i like its name SALTWATER RESTAURANT

Shame isn’t it, I’d even hoped maybe fishing could pick up there if the waters are bought back under the UK belt…
Dovercourt, lol yeah same as Frinton an the like, definitely does feels 1950 which to me is good, preserve the heritage, but without investment and a purpose the go like say Walton has, soooo bleak outside of the heatwave days as there’s literally noting there.
Real shame to me, really should be bringing a purpose back to our shores [emoji57]

keep meaning to get down to Walton, someone told me if you stand on the cliff? you can see a huge brown stain spread out into the sea when the sewage pipe opens.
Pennineman:
The Mayflower, that ship that took the Pilgrim Fathers was built in Harwich and it was the actual start of it’s journey to the New World.
Exactly, huge heritage there that really should be shared… Whether folks agree with it or not its history and should be helping to draw in life to the town.
As for Waltons sewage pipe…[emoji38]
Beach is lovely for its sand though, probs coz it’s been fertilised [emoji23]
