just a quick note to say that the new speed cameras on that stretch of road are now live. the one nearest to bassets pole (the one that photos from the front) is the one with the censors in the ground so:

And you have to avoid the Helicopter and the unmarked cars and bikes. All in the interests of road safety you understand.
I think they are for the benefit of Tuesday night bike night. but they will have to pay their way with the occasional truck that exceeds the limit, (god forbid)

I heard about this accident on the radio, but did not realise the person had subsequently died. I drove past Bassetts Pole on Tuesday and there were hundreds of bikes and spectators at the McDonalds. Lets hope that sanity prevails and there are no more accidents.
Regarding the camera, the number of cars who stand on the brakes when they see it, to trundle through at 30 odd mph needs to be seen to be believed.
