Looks like my day will end somewhere around there tomorrow, is the truckstop still open in Basildon? Or can you recommend somewhere in that vicinity.
Cheers

Yep Basildon truck stop is still their if you want to save some money you can park down luckyn lane in Basildon for free which is about 2 miles away from Basildon truck stop
Free parking on the road by Argos RDC.There is an American food place.Expensive.
Kfc and Asda five mins walk.
Thanks, may well be loaded so wanted somewhere reasonable.
Argos road is Miles Grey Road. SS14 3FF.
If park there you can walk to town which is not far but no room to park a truck in Basildon.

My average in their is 5-6 hour like up at Argos Heywood but at least at Heywood they allow you to stay in the cab. Argos Basildon is a ■■■■■■■■■ I even had the plessure of a full security search after I had been to the canteen just like you have at the airport

Haha no you have to go through security on your way out and they ask you to place your hand on this device, if it goes green you can go if it goes red you have a security search.
Long time tip at Argos Bridgwater ,but drivers can eat in the canteen. The food is good and cheap. As you turn right out the gate when tipped, plenty of free parking by a shut down depot.
“and they ask you to place your hand on this device”
Who’d nick anything from Argos?
I used to like delivering to Argos depots; we used to run in there with trailers full of ironing boards, all requiring handballing off. I used to be up at 2am, on the road by 3 and at the depot by 6 in the morning. Hand in paperwork, back onto a bay, pull the curtains and go back to bed. After four or five hours, I’d get up, maybe wander up to the canteen with my book, then go back and sit in the cab and perhaps play my guitar for a bit. Then eventually, someone would knock on the door with my paperwork and I’d go home again. If you had plenty to do, or needed to catch up on your sleep, Argos depots were great places.

What so you don’t believe me■■? It’s the same at the gatehouse at Sainsburys RDC at Tamworth for a cab search. You put your hand on or over some sort of fob if it goes red you get a can search (well a quick look inside from the steps) if it goes green you’re fine.

He meant device as in his Willy
Don’t quite understand why people have a problem with random security searches. What is annoying, is that because of a few tea-leafs, the company has had to introduce these measures and now everyone has to do it. IMO if you have nothing to hide, whats a minute out of your life for a quick scan to check your not one of those tea-leafs??

You always get the “Why complain if you have nothing to hide” routine when this sort of thing comes up.
How far exactly do you go with this theory?..maybe searching your house because somebody with a grudge files a false accusation, or maybe touching your toes with your kecks around your ankles in front of somebody wearing a rubber glove and a broad smile all because “You have nothing to hide”
Well I do object, on the basis that just because I drive a truck it doesn’t necessarily mean I’m a thief.
If it’s a formal open the cab or trailer door and look in that’s no problem, but anything more just because some jumped up jobsworth likes to show his importance, well get the Police around if you think I have committed a theft.
What happened to the days when blokes stood up for themselves
We used to get the random search thing when I worked at Parcelnet in Peterborough. As a night trunker, if I want to nick anything, I’ll hide it in a lay by 20 miles from work and pick it up on the way home. Why would I try and smuggle it out of the yard when I can take 20 - odd tonnes of stuff out every night quite openly?
Think if one o them security guards wanted to pat me down, I’d do the same to him, but with a bit more force
