Basic postcode mutidrop route planner

Hi,

I’m after a basic street level route planner.

Dont need it to offer mapping or directs, but am looking for somthing i can enter say 50 postcodes (drops) and it’ll sort them into a list showing the optimum order to do them in.

Similar to what Paragon routing offers but with out all the toys and the huge price tag.

I’ve tried a couple of standard PC route planners but they either cant cope with drops that are too close together (like in the same town) or they can only handle a couple of ‘vias’

Wondered if anyone had come across anything, has to be either cheap or free!

you could do worse than microsoft auto route or the tnt routeplanner

Hi Dennis

I think to get 50 vias on a basic package is a tall order.

I’ve checked out Travelmanager ( the TNT routeplanner mentioned) which will allow 14 via points and calculate the route quickly. I use this at home and in the office and find it the best available for the price. (£29.99).

It works with either postcodes or addresses. I just tried it with birmingham postcodes and it took every one correctly.

Hope this helps

I use “TOM TOM” and make a POI file which contains all the drops and then use that to decide my route (up to 15 drops in my case). Guess that you could use “Autoroute” to do a similar thing, doesn’t create the route itself, but I normally find it produces a logical answer !!
