Wouldn’t touch with a BARGEPOLE
We’ve been getting £270 for Manchester to Stevenage-26 pallets of Coke (soft drink, not the white powder) grossed out around 40tons.
& I did a Deeside -Bracknell in the summer, 4 hour wait for the load at Gt Bear/DHL,Deeside & about 5 hours to get tipped at Waitrose, Bracknell, all for the Princely sum of £300 (I think we got another £100 for all the waiting, after I emailed the office with all the details) Wasn’t heavy but it was a mixed load that DHL couldn’t be arsed with, so they subbed it out to us Mugs via Barron Hood.
I think we get around £240/£250 for Heinz Wigan to Waitrose,MK, which gets us back to base, but can still be a pain if we get delayed either end !

That’s appalling, I got £230 from Thame to Minworth last week, the load weighed about 4 tonnes and I was less than an hour at each end.
Two opinions from me… When I used them for the odd backload they were not that great… However always came up with something, which was sometimes better than nothing.
Now working for them full time for a small operator and it seems ok, have made some half decent money and made some profit… From what I gather it is like anything sometimes good sometimes bad.
Last week did about £2500 but used allot of fuel with heavy loads and crap weather, however week before I did 4 days and did about 2300 and not a lot of fuel… Swings and roundabouts…also depends on the planner you may get ,ours is very good imo.
sooner run home empty then ■■■■ about with there loads, i dont like peanuts
My friend did some traction work for them at the beginning of last year. He said that they were nice people to work for and always paid promptly, but with the rates he was getting (£1.30/mile average for fully loaded work) he was barely making enough to live on after paying diesel and other costs. He switched agents and seems a lot happier now. Perhaps they should spend a bit less on their full page magazine adverts and a bit more of their rates!

That’s how it should be, I keep nagging my TM about waiting time, they’ve even asked me if I’m interested in going in the office, but with decision makers that accept appalling rates & long delays, what’s the point (they’ll never change their old fashioned management style) at the end of the day, I’m getting paid to sit & do nothing, so I’ll just keep playing the game until it goes ■■■■ Up, then move on. (Plenty of agency’s around MK & a huge Waitrose RDC opening next year)
