learned a very painful lesson today, went to close the doors on my trailer, took the spring bar off and the wind hit the door in question,i have never been hit so hard before,if the wind gets them you got no chance of stopping them, next thing is i’m flying backwards straight down onto my left side on the ground, result was a damaged knee, rib, and sprained finger, lesson learn’t if windy stay away from the door if closing, meaning don’t stand like a muppet right in front of it,a painful lesson to learn, worst part was I washed my uniform yesterday now all manky
Yep they act like sails in the wind.

Always keep them at arms length in the wind
Where there’s blame there’s a claim lol
A valuable lesson learned and generally not one that will be repeated.
I’m still sporting a red mark across my chest from when Storm Doris caught my barn door and sent me sprawling back in February. Boy that hurt !
only 1 half of the pair I used to run a bulk tipper trailer with a side hinged single door, parked facing down hill outside the yard had to open door before reversing into yard the wind caught it swung me round like a flag but the same wind slowed the door down before slamming into the side, lucky or what,
Always stand with your back to the wind when its windy,if the door goes just let it go out of harms way.
Not been hit by a loose door yet but been got by the ninja buckle a few times( why is always a bloody cold day lol ).
dont they cover that in the cpc ■■?.
yer has happened to me before when all wind and rain up in my face,
Ive seen that happen glad your ok but did see someone getting knocked out by a barn door on a fridge caught the poor guy right on the side of the head.
yep done it myself, opened barn doors on a 16 foot trailer when it was blowing a gale (not the brightest thing I done)
next thing I knew I was face down on the concrete about 10 foot away from the trailer, luckily only got sprained arm & a few cuts & bruises + bruised ego.
Now very careful on a windy day
IMHO curtains are far worse. Especially when some git insists on opening both sides.
MHO curtains are far worse. Especially when some git insists on opening both sides.
Got to agree on that, although i normally tell them NO, we will open one side at a time…all they want to do is get the job done, i want to get the job done…safely…my safety.they dont like it, especially if you ask them to hang on and help close them…so i make up my own mind. Its just me being a rebel again…ha ha
