Finally got my break and have been booked next week working out of Bargain Booze in Crewe.

If you’re overweight now you won’t be after the week
Usually 6 wheel rigids loaded to the max, tricky reversing into tight delivery spots, all handball, moaning/picky store assistants… I could go on
Good luck!
I worked for them but it was not bargain booze it was a company called CVL
Very hard work, long hours and the driver mate is all ways a numpty
A slab of 1664 for £ 18.99 that’s my experience of them.

We have 2 drivers at our place that used to work for them, and also my brother-in-law has just left (youve probably got his job
)
He says that the work is hard, lots of handball, yes you get a drivers mate (sometimes 2…for security purposes delivering to stores in deprived areas)
Long days sometimes double manned up to 18-20 hours.
weird shift patterns…2 days on, 1 off, 3 on, 4 off, 4 on…etc etc
On the plus side you will get/stay fit.
At the end of the day any job is better than no job, good luck and use it as a stepping stone to better things. Its all experience.
Why advertise the fact they carry booze, may as well say, stop me and rob me.See artics with tvs and other high value goods on the side of the trailers.
When bargain Booze really started getting big I was working for a rival (now defunked) off licence chain. I used to ask myself why aren’t their trucks equipped with tail-lifts or why dont they use sack barrows?
Good luck with it anyway.
Having seen the trucks I noted that there are no tail lifts…
Mind you id like to think I’m in good shape! Do they at least give you a fork trolley? (you know the ones you see delivery drivers drop boxes off with)
I can’t complain, its my first break and with my situation anything is welcome!
not b/booze but another drinks firm, yep hard graft, usually just a sack barrow but you will be amazed at how much you will, after a while , get on a barrow… not sure what deliveries will be, we used to do mostly pub/club and restaurants, but hotels too and majority of these were the worst drops ever, 9 times out of ten could,nt get wagon anywhere near delivery point cos of cars (usually there own staff) then the wine store would be the furthest point away down several worn steps and no lift… but it def kept you fit!!
Chatting to my brother in law this morning and he was telling me that during last years riots a Bargain Booze shop in Salford was cleaned out, (takings for the day were down though strangely
).The shop was restocked next day , and 12 hours later the riots flared up again and the shop was hit again.

Used to see Threshers wagons with electric pump trucks onboard and a full size cantilever tail-lift which even that seemed a recipe for thefts and breakages.
Would have thought enclosed roll cages you can security seal individually would have been the way to go. Heavy roll cages are hard work over rough pavements though I suppose.
the driver normally piles the stuff on the side of the bed and the drivers mate takes it in… but dont expect to get a 45min break without the mate’s moaning they want get fnished, its ok for them as they can sleep on route to drops etc… some areas of liverpool and manchester are fun to deliver to
but dont expect a dnertime finish the same peeps used to get the good runs…
im guessing your based in the area, id try ask to see if they is any newlook work from lymedale, thats not bad and they are double manned.
Anyone know whether they are split or range change boxes? Or are the newer ones automatic?
