Barely Legal Drivers

i’ve been watching it, and it’s scary to watch, two of the lad’s were stopped by the film crew before driving, for a breath test, which they both failed :unamused: but jeasus the lass’s are worse, texting, posing for pic’s, dangerious driving, yet they still got a car at the end of it…

i’m 22, i would of been the outcome if they had filmed me?

There was one episode where the lass wasn’t a bad driver (by comparison) but had never been shown by anyone how to join a motorway, relying on her passenger for observation and once getting stuck stationary on the chevrons.

Made me think that the system needs a rethink and learners should be required to take some sort of motorway instruction. The principle of a truck test is that you are tested on every sort of road to check you are safe, and maybe the same should apply to cars. maybe they should be required to take 30 minutes motorway tuition and have the instructor send off that it has taken place to obtain the full license. Don’t Norway do something like that?

Mind you my Dad took me on a motorway once I passed and if everyone had sensible parents the problem wouldn’t exist. totally scary television and terrifying that some of the kids get licenses in the first place!

Passing the test either B or C proves you can if want. These people are as good as gold butter wouldn’t melt when they want something and you have the means to “supply” (ADI). Once they have their ticket they do as they please, it’s good old fashioned narcissism.

This may sound stupid, but cant the footage be used by the police to prosecute the spoilt little brats :imp: they are driving
without due care or attention :exclamation: .

I managed 20 minutes off the crap before I realised her ■■■■ were fake and lost interest, I honestly think driving is just something that comes naturaly and can’t be taught you can get someone through a test but that doesn’t make you a driver I’m not the best by any stretch but I sold cars before getting my licence and have no problem in getting in anything and going down the road In it I think it’s in you and cant be taught and theese 3 yesterday, well I have no words for it lol.

Driving is all instinct and like any skill, not everyone can develop the skills needed

Just watched the first one, and im GENUINELY scared!

How the ■■■■ do they pass their test■■?

B…

I read it somewhere on here, drivings tests aren’t a hard one to pass. But an easy test to fail. You could be a really ■■■■ driver but sail through a test, but you could be one of the best drivers the examiners had in ages but because of a split second mistake you fail.

My second test I thought I failed, As the test didn’t last half as long as the first one! And I hadn’t been anywhere near a dual carriage way or left the vicinity of Pontefract :open_mouth: If my 2 penneth worth is worth anything I personally think the driving tests should be made more challenging. Seperate the idiots from the drivers!

Cheers

Jonny :sunglasses:

The driving test is driving strictly by the book or fail. Driving strictly by the book is not easy and if you can do it for an hour you have showed you can do it if you are willing to. The people on this show have an attitude problem the rule book got thrown out when they got their pass, It’s a case of “won’t be needing this old hash now”. Rules to them are for other people to follow.

The above applies to inner city the country bumpkins get it easier i.e no traffic, no complex junctions.

then we flap like hell when we get to the parish boundary

makes u wonder how the ■■■■ these idiots pass the driving test

Wasn’t there a “glossy magazine” called ■■■■■■■■■■■■??

Perhaps they should stop ■■■■■■■ about with 17-25 year olds & raise the test age to over 25.

Well that would be me out of a job then :unamused:

so why 25? all i can see, is the “17-25 yr old are most at risk …blah blah…” will get changed to “25-33 yr old are most at risk… blah blah” etc, it would only move the problem, not cure it…

i passed my test when i was 18 back in 2009, now sadly i became a part of the statistic of “accident with in 6mths’ of passing test”, but that not the point.

after that accident, i had only passed my driving test, no other after test training. which i acted on.

with in 6mth’s i had sorted out my pass plus, i found that to be usefull for getting experance on a motorway with a driving instructor.

i then found my local police force were offering a session on the skid pan at the police HQ for free, had a good laugh and fun testing the limit’s of fwd and rwd cars, and learnt a lot that helped me in the following winter.

and then instead of going to court over the accident, i was offered a place on a driving improvment course, which i took and came out as a greatly improved driver.

after each of them part’s, i found that i was more relaxed behind the wheel and my mpg had also improved aswell.

what we need instead of “you have passed you test the road is your’s” is a more througher training, a session on the skid pan, watch a few horror clip’s of young people having a crash like this → http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8I54mlK0kVw (warning graphic) and more post test training on motorway (look at ■■■■■■■■■■■■ driver’s, most of the people on there struggled on the motorway…), what about a session in a car simulator, looking a poor driving condition’s snow ice dark etc…

i think in sweden, it take’s 2yrs to pass the driving test, over here the pratical side can be done in 7day’s flat, that’s only good for one person, that person is the one getting the money…

In my opinion, after passing your car test it should be mandatory for a black box to be fitted to any car you drive and illegal to carry passengers under the age of 21 for the first 12 months. Making the test harder isn’t the answer, any idiot can have a good day at the office and get lucky with road conditions etc.

A lot of the issues on this programme seem to stem from peer pressure and mates being in the car causing a distraction. Take that out of the equation and these drivers would have 12 months of gaining proper driving experience on their own and guidance from responsible adults. After the 12 months, data from the black box is anaylsed and if all is ok they get the full license, otherwise it’s a re-test.

As for motorway driving, it should be mandatory to have done an approved course of some sort - like PassPlus (if that still exists) before you can do so.

The above might sound ■■■■, but I think it’d be a positive move.

Sorry for dragging up an oldish thread but I’ve just watched a bit of this program for the first time.

I only caught the last 15-20 minutes, a young welsh lad hit a wall whilst parking (apparently), ran a red light, let his mate in the passenger seat put lip gloss on him whilst he was driving (yes I did say lip gloss :unamused: ), and was generally flapping his arms all overt the place whilst driving.

He was rewarded with a new car for being such a good driver :open_mouth:

Is that woman crazy, it’s no wonder there are so many accidents when people get rewarded for bad driving :unamused:

The programmes mad isn’t it, do you reckon if I start beating the ■■■■ out off my truck and driving like a loon the next time my boss invests in some new ones he’ll give one to me again

I watched one of these the whole way through as i thought you’d get to see how much they’d improved by after some quality training, but instead you see them drive like prats then one of them gets a car  … Personally i think its pretty disgusting, what message does it send out to those who’ve just passed their test, they’ll watch it a assume thats an acceptable way to drive on the roads!!
