Bank Holiday Weekend

Oh my god…Ive seen some bad days on the roads on the BH weekend but today takes the biscuit. ■■■■■■■■ and halfwits everywhere. I ran from Uttoxeter to Wakefield and it took me 4.5 hours thanks to that artic that decided to overturn at M1 J28, though the roads were horrendous everywhere, even picking my lad up after work. The M60 sounded horrendous today too, and the M61!

a bloke rolled his wagon on the 61 this morning and died. not sure if there was any more fatalities in the aftermath but it was that that messed up the 60 and 65 more than usual

Pretty much every traffic report on Radio 2 today, was “all major routes are knackered, here’s a few of the most knackered”

Junction 6 Crash clockwise at Sale, Over turned lorry Junction 18-19 M60, overturned car anti-clockwise around Stockport. I’m sure there was one more I heard on the radio whilst throwing my keys at the boss and saying “see you Tuesday!”

I was driving down the parkway coming from Manchester town center around 3pm saw a convoy of travellers caravans parked up on the hard shoulder of the m60 sliproad going towards stockport, had to be around 25-30 caravans and transits.

Not to mention the morning and the M61, doesn’t help with creamfields traffic slowing down the m56 either Manchester the last few days has been a cluster ■■■■!

when will people learn to drive?

Just searched the news for this, no one else was involved. manchestereveningnews.co.uk/ … h-11802394

Nothing will beat the level of muppetry I saw on the M271 last week. Kick out time and that motorway turned into a scene from Wacky Races. Cars going across 3 lanes to dive into the sliproads, cars cutting in right under my nose, cars undertaking to snake their way up the traffic at 70+. Had one women speed match me all down the slip road then start giving me the finger and laying on the horn when I didn’t move over for her. Its a shame I was driving one of our livery units instead of my old plain wagon, wanted to join in on the swearing and the horn blowing but alas, I had to bite my tongue.

came off the I.O.W. ferry,to the usual chaos on the M3 and A34…broken down cars and scooters on the other side causing serious disruption :frowning:
feel sorry for the George Jenkins, and other hauliers trying to get over to the Island in that carnage.

It did sound horrendous out there.luckily,i was back up to shepshed for lunch.
Quick trailer change on the way in…then done

Yep it started early yesterday on the usual M6 Stoke section car park, luckily i was running early so able to do a bit of ducking an diving around the old roads and was back in the yard before 1400.

One good thing about sat navs, they don’t really offer some of the routes that need a bit of lateral thinking as alternatives, so these don’t get clogged up.

Yep the A34 had more Muppetts than the opening titles of the muppet show

How do they even manage to roll / crash a vehicle at only around 10 mph on a Friday!!■■ :open_mouth: :unamused:

Have you noticed how many radio reports that say a broken down vehicle in the average speed road works on the motorway.
The queues can be for five miles or more.
Does anyone check their vehicle ?
Bank holidays are traffic carnage and chaos with the same roads causing grief such as the A303 Stonehenge , M25 around Heathrow and the M6 around Stoke .

It was chaos in our yard yesterday for me.

I had to boil the kettle twice.

Ken.

BH weekend getaway should be named Wacky races where the rules of the road go out out the window, remember Penelope Pitstop and ■■■■ Dasterly .
It seems that inexperienced drivers appear at this time who are clueless or brain dead.

Was glad I said no to a long run and night out last night. On way back from South Shields I took the A19 to Selby then A63 route back to Howden due to over an hour of delays between Wetherby and the A64 junction on the A1M South. Spent most of the day prior to South Shields running around the minor A roads of the North Pennines and Northumberland so missed all the mayhem.

Its the new H&S compliant way for thieves to nick the wheels off smaller cars like the Yaris, Smart etc.

Just turn them over thus no danger of jack giving up plus no bending down hurting your back problems while removing the wheels. Also works in slow moving traffic. Saves hours of risk assessments before going out on the rob.

I miss “Google Traffic”. Those green dots used to give you the traffic at a glance, live, and totally free. :frowning:

Does anyone know if for the next week - the nightly closure of dartford tunnel down to one lane, off at J31, back on at J30 - has been suspended?

Google Maps app now integrates it all, it shows live traffic info, will tell you how long the delays are and automatically suggest alternative faster routes as well as as you normally drive along showing how long alternatives along your route will take.

Looking at those red lines - the whole southeast looks like buggered on a stick right now - and it’s only lunchtime! :unamused:
