Got a collection of bananas out of MMD Portsmouth in the morning. Am I right in thinking that the entrance is on the corner of Prospect Road and Flathouse Road? I’ve not been before.

Depends on the time of day. During daytime enter via Wharf Rd.

That’s the way I went in last week.
Not been there for a while (thankfully) but it used to be - Week days, entrance via Brittany Ferries/multi-storey. On Weekends and week days after 1800, entrance is round by the Navy Base entrance.
