Ban all goods in staff

Fair point there, not wise to tar them all with the same brush.

why not, they do to lorry drivers :stuck_out_tongue:

Winseer:
I wouldn’t imagine anyone from the driver’s waiting room coming down to help either, not being their job!

The spanish drivers used to come in and help top the pallets of fruit occasionally.

Used to tip fairly often at lidls at Chelmsford I used to quite enjoy doing the unloading bit of exersize and it beats sitting in some dodgy waiting room listening to some nutcase telling you the latest stobart rumour or about when the was in the sas.

^^ THIS ^^

Very rare now to have a Spanish driver in a Spanish truck, could be South American or Eastern euro or Ukrainian.

I’m in charge of a largeish catering warehouse at Paultons Park (a theme park in hampshire) and enjoy the drivers coming in and I’m very willing to get stuck in and help unload as I have huge amounts every day. Somtimes though I will get a driver thats rude and impatient because They have had to wait 10 mins for me to get back from in the park so they will usually find they have to unload their selves. Just out of curiosity has anyone been to Paultons Park?

Well I work in goods in some/most of the time where I work and in fact every driver who has come in has been in and out rather quick. Like a couple weeks ago we had a maritime driver come in with a load of cages to be booked in and put away he was tipped in 20 minutes and out of the yard in 30

You’ll find it’s different everywhere you go, some places will be good some will be bad. And for the record I’ve worked every bank holiday this year so far including Easter and the Jubilee and wasn’t too bothered about it and not complained one bit…in fact it was rather enjoyable working the bank holidays because I’d probably sat at home doing [zb] all anyway if I wasn’t!

So to add a note not all English warehouse staff are lazy, just those who have a [zb] work ethic and expect something for nothing. I just don’t see the benefit out of doing that

Cheers

Bet he loved you lol

I don’t think you can lay the blame entirely at their feet.

Yes, the delays can be long and annoying. Being forced to wait where they say just because they can’t TRUST you not to pull of a bay. Of course, if they did things like chocking the back wheels or other safety systems than just removing your keys then you could spend longer ā€˜relaxing’ in the cab rather than having to socialise with other people.

They have to stick to their rules and regs, H&S stuff, management decisions and the like. The fact you’ve sometimes gotta wait ages to get tipped is probably down more to not enough available staff inside to unload the wagon.

OK, there are some here who have stated that they don’t might and will active help unload but then you hae some companies that insist that for more H&S rules you can’t enter their warehouse (or get banned!)

So it’s catch 22 really isn’t it. It can be frustrating and annoying but really, do you want to make yourself get banned and cause hassle for your boss by not being ā€˜compatible’?
