Is it just me or do Agencies generally not bother returning calls or emails. I prefer to know if they are not interested in me rather than just not corresponding, i don’t want to sign up to every agency on earth on a couple.

Yep, I’ve still got the same bar & the same bad manners! 
I’ve had an agency phone me 5 weeks later, about a job I applied for through them! 
Until that time I’d never got a response from them, so upon receiving the call, they weren’t striking me as an agency I wanted to be working through.
It works both ways mate, as there are better agencies out there…

They’ll return your call when they think it’s in their interest to do so. If not, then they won’t bother. To be fair, this is the situation with many companies - if they’re not interested in your application, they just won’t bother to respond.
That’s why, for agencies, I think it’s a good idea to go to their office in person rather than just posting off a CV. At least it shows you’re willing to make an effort, and they then have to say “no” to your face rather than just ignoring you.
I have applied for a few jobs that were being advertised on indeed by agencies. I liked the sound of the particular hours and role that was in job description. On every occasion I have been contacted by these agencies they never actually speak to me about the job I applied for. They say can you pop in to sign up for an excellent role that had just come in that day. They would save this exciting role just for me if I could get the by the end of the day… I would love to know the actual number of real jobs being advertised by these companies.
Got one i spoke to today as above please pop in we have a job round the corner, wait and see lol

You have to remember, if they called everyone on their books they would soon go down the pan , they rely on you to keep on to them till your name is etched in the memory and you have the reputation.

I would phone them every day. At some point they will get you something, if only to stop you phoning!
At last I got sorted, really good efficient and very good communication, got a start next week
