I just don’t get the reporting

A pedestrian has been decapitated after he was involved in a horrific accident with a lorry.

The man, who has yet to be identified, died in the collision at Wellington Road South, Stockport centre, on Monday afternoon at 2.45pm.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, near the junction with Longshut Lane.

The man, who has yet to be identified, died in the collision at Wellington Road South, Stockport centre, on Monday afternoon at 2.45pm.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, near the junction with Longshut Lane.

There was worse than that, part of the same report that actually said he was decapitated stated “serious head injuries”.
It seemed as though the media just threw it all together to get it out asap.

Not nice indeed.

I would imagine that losing your head from your body would certainly count as a serious head injury though.

You’re probably right, the editor can only quote what has been said word for word but I’m pretty sure I’d have left the last line out personally.
Apologies to the editor, blame shifted to GMP’s spokesperson who probably wasn’t given the correct information anyway.

Cant blame gmp either, that would have come from a doctor or paramedic at the scene and that is what would have gone on the death certificate.

Whoever the comment came from there was no need for it to be there when the word decapitated was used just a couple of paragraphs earlier.
