Weird, I just had a phone call today from monarch about an aircraft refuelling job at Edinburgh airport I applied for almost a year ago. I’ve got a telephone interview on Monday for it and they’re holding interviews at the airport next month so there must be jobs available.
shugg:
They were "master vendor " for Tesco agency drivers etc , my experience of them would only leave me to advise you not to go anywhere near them in any way .!!! .
Can’t comment on the Tesco side, however on the Air side it’s seasonal and North air recruit from this pool when positions are available. I also know they are the sole vendor for BP mainline and some guys have been there for years , so like any company only you can decide if it’s good bad or indifferent What I can say is this industry is going through major changes with the low cost operators such as Stobart & Turners bringing in their T& C’s and their hourly rate is lower than Monarch!
The rate offered is £9.80 standard for 162 hours a month. £13.30 OT and £16.08 Bank Holidays. Don’t really think it’s very good for tanker work but I don’t know as no experience in fuel tankers. But it might be a good way to get tanker experience, other than the small amount of liquid waste work I’ve done before.

that sounds crap, considering the hoops you need to jump through. How long before they either can’t fill vacancies, or existing drivers revolt?

That is not the rate on BP it’s just over £15 on the 12 shift and £16 ish on 14 shift.
North air is similar but depends on role as there are a number of roles including banks man .
I suppose it’s not too bad but one other thing I didn’t like was that if it was quiet at the airport they would relocate me to one of their other clients within 50 miles. Basically Tesco RDC at Bathgate but that’s not the job I applied for.
