Back up north! (Heathrow is North from southampton) :P

well, moved down to Southampton to help look after my mother as she moved house and is getting on a bit…

been running containers there and then onto working for meachers when the container work when quiet

but seeing as my agency hasn’t had anywork for me for 6 weeks now… 6 weeks!!! and its driving me mad and I am planning on moving back up around the Heathrow area (well, with in a 20 mile radius from slough) which was my plan anyway once things down south had settled.

how ever, its now time to get back off the ‘want you…oh no changed our mind don’t want you’ agency work, and back into full time employment.

Does anyone know anywhere currently recruiting? if you search for any sort of HGV 1 jobs you get 90% agency adverts which is bloody annoying!

so, thought I would you lovely lot if you know of anything?

Class 1. preferable tramping or European, as that’s what i have been used to, and i kinda prefer tramping about anyway.

Thanks peeps!

What part of “up north” is Heathrow??

My roommate at uni was from Hackney, anything north of the M25 was “Up North” for him.

You are Polar !

Anything above Watford Gap is ‘Oop North’ to me. (See Quiney’s post below)

And it’s Oop North ya southern jessies.

ken.

Anything north passed the M25 is classed as upt north…frigging southern furries… lmao

I’ve always been of the opinion that up north (or oop north as you foreigners say   ) starts at Watford.
I’ve worked for many agencies in my time but never had to go for 6 weeks without work. Is that 6 weeks without any work being offered at all or 6 weeks without the particular ideal work you want being offered??

Well I’ve got into a habit of saying back up North from living down south! Haha

And yes 6 weeks nothing.

Maybe 1 day here

1 day there every blue moon.

So, any one have any ideas, id be much obliged

saints @ Colnbrook? :grimacing:

Hi,
Viridor (ex-Thames waste management) were looking for a tanker driver out of their Slough depot a week or so back.

They are based in the Thames water site near asda, if you know that? Just over the motorway.

Not a bad job I wouldn’t have thought.

Hope that helps?

Why don’t you try all the local container hauliers, I just googled ‘container transport, Southampton’ & came up with loads of companies-Maritime, Goldstar, Pentalver, just to name a few.
Then at least you could stay ‘Dan Saff’ near the ‘Housemaids Knee’(as a KOKney would say)

cheers guys will have a look!

and thanks martin. but im not looking at staying ‘dan saaf’ any longer, it was only temporary whilst I sorted family things out, my life is back up here. hence the want to move back.

dont think any container firms are this far up mind you?

Wincanton containers at newbury, or is that too far oop norf, saints transport are always looking, and llynch at stanmore has a big advertisment on the mway

Hoyer at esso are still looking if you have adr

no ADR :frowning:

thanks tho buddy! will check these out also!

newbury isnt to bad either, spesh if im doing tramping…only gotta do the journey twice a week then!
